Do we carry two kickers next week?

I was shocked they didn't start going for 2 after the first couple of misses.
That might’ve been a consideration if the game had been closer. But the only way to get Maher’s head straightened out is by having success and that requires kicking. That’s why that final make was very important. It was the first step. Continuing that into practice this week will be the next step. The final step will be that first XP or FG in the Frisco game.

The next game is so important that you want to trust a kicker off the street more than the guy who made over 90% of his kicks this season?

Players have bad games, sometimes. That includes kickers.
He missed a PAT in the previous game too.
They've got to bring in a guy and evaluate Maher seriously during the week. Not like we need to strain him with long attempts. How about just show that he can *reliably* make PATs?

I understand trying to get his head right. But pushing him into historical failure may not have been the best way to do it.
I read that they get 3 balls for the game, and somehow the first 2 were ‘lost’. The third one is basically a brand new ball, not broken in like the first 2. I’m not sure if that could affect anything, but you never know.

Who do you cut to make room for the extra kicker?

I think they will just get a sports psychologist and trainers helping Maher getting whatever crap out of his head that self-sabotaged him. If they get him nailing those kicks again in practice, and back full of confidence, we're good. If it doesn't work, if he's shanking stuff in practice, then you grab whichever decent free agent kicker you can. But I suspect it's possible to fix whatever got between Maher's ears.

I say yes! Next game is too important.

I don't care if Maher's ego maybe bruised. If he can't handle having someone pressuring him then he's not going to perform in pressure situation anyway.
Yes. Maher has been exceptional from long range.

NO we need depth at other positions to beat SF sorry you roll with Maher get him a lot of practice and you go and play the game.

What if he only hits under 70% of his kicks in practice this week? Remember Verderjec (sp) ? He was the most accurate kickers and never recovered once he started to miss kicks.
