I am curious if the Cowboys have a team that does analytics? During the Tom Landry era, we were known to be innovators. Today, maybe not so much? The Eagles do admit to being in this category. Where do we stand in this?

Byron Jones was ranked one of the best corners this past season........not only that if Brown was in Dallas and Jones in New England than he would have the Superbowl ring and not Brown. Getting Brown would not have gotten us a Superbowl.........getting Belichek would have though

Cmon..………...Garrett is our HC. Garrett is the epitome of NO innovation. Jerry has to actually bring in first year QB coaches to search for new ideas. Heck they are already probing Cobb for things he did in GB that they can use. LOL

If anything the clown sticks right to the percentages like its gospel. That's why its so easy to predict what he does. He does the same thing over and over again. No thought, no trickery, no innovation. Just does what the numbers say. LOL

Everyone just run 8 yards and turn around again. Zeke, just run straight up the middle. yada yada yada. Same percentage plays just keep popping up on his chart. LOL

Maybe that's why we have so little long pass plays in his offense. Because they are low percentage plays.

Yes. John. And how's bad must things have been for this team to actually get rid of a Garrett?

John then went on to screw up our offensive line by being the man most responsible for putting in word to hire Paul Alexander.

The Garretts have been damaging the Cowboys for over a decade now.

Yeah that pro bowl CB. Shouldn’t have went by his SPARQ score........

Byron Jones was a very good pick. Problem is our coaches sucked for the most part and played him at the wrong position for 3 years.
 
Every team uses analytics to varying degrees, whether it's for player evaluations, team construction, play design, down/distance decisions, or other situational decisions. I think most fans misunderstand or misuse analytics, but it sounds scientific and cool.

Too bad there isn't a SPARQ score for owners and coaches... On second thought, it is probably too depressing to contemplate.
 
If they did they would go for a lot more 4th downs, never Punt from the Opponents <40, go for 2 more often and generally be more aggressive..... the numbers back it up

We want to be the 90s Cowboys Ground and Pound Offense in a modern world

It is like when Golden State figured out you don't Shaq anymore, just 3-4 guys that can shoot 3s..... the numbers have changed BB forever unless they eliminate the 3 - pointer

Brady has figured out that teams can't stop the 5-10 yard passing game with a pass rush..... look for the mismatch thru formations and take 12 plays to score.... it is the modern ground and pound

Could not agree more with your opening paragraph. I don't have the data, but suspect that the Cowboy's performance on 4th downs, going for 2, etc. is comparable to the NFL average, meaning they (the Cowboys) should be more aggressive in these situations.

Also, your modern day analogy of the "ground and pound" is spot on. As an official member of the "anybody but New England" fan club, it is incredibly infuriating watching Brady dink and dunk his way down the field for a score.
