Do we really need a great 3rd Corner??

We always seems to complain about out secondary and seem to think we need great players at every position back there.

But how do other teams manage to get it done with average or below average players at several positions?

We have a pro bowl corner that most of us consider a top 5 CB in this league.

We have a 2nd corner that was his teams best cover guy when we acquired him in free agency. He has played great at times and was 5th (?) in the league in interceptions despite missing significant time.

We have a new pro bowl free safety.

And we have the controversial one at strong safety. While we can argue whether or not he is good, he can't possibly be so bad now that he overcomes everything else. Our team sure is not better off with Keith Davis back there.

So, what gives? Are there other teams with this much talent and money tied up in the secondary. Isn't it unrealistic to expect all of your corners and safeties to be top tier?

How can the Giants handle our receivers with their secondary problems while they and others can consistently take advantage of us?

If this isn't more obvious now than ever, I don't know what could convince you.

We need something better than first team All-Suck Jacques Reeves, that's for sure.

We don't need a "great" 3rd CB.

We need a "competent" 3rd CB.

We will hopefully draft a great CB in April to go along with a FA signing.

Our starters are fine, but that Nickelback role needs an upgrade, also it would help because Henry is injury prone lately.

WINNER WINNER !!

Reeves has GOT to go.

I saw him out there on Plax all by himself yesterday.

I started screaming. Then I started crying.

Exactly, I'd be happy with anyone not named Jaques Reeves

So, how wuz ur seazon went?

We could certainly use an upgrade over Reeves, but this loss went way, way, way beyond just a talent deficiency. The Giants' coaches would have swapped secondaries with us in a second.

aaron glenn was a great 3rd corner for us, shut down receivers in the slot a lot of times, and now we play newman in the slot, that is the biggest gaffe in years personel wise.

I'd love a guy like R.W. McQuarters. Is he great? No. But he's a pretty good athlete, he's experienced, he has good hands, he can do things like return punts in a pinch, and he's cheap.

As much as I'm all for grooming young guys, sometimes it would be nice to have a competent vet back there as insurance if nothing else.

Gosh no, that guy could never break on a ball playing zone. Oh wait...

*cries softly*

You could have two deion clones back there and it wouldn't matter if Jacque Reeves is back there too.

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

There is a reason JR is the most targeted CB in the nfl. Not an opinion, a fact.

It was necessary to cut him because

That's where I'm ending that sentence.

Newman played in the slot when Glenn was here.
