Uh, what has Glenn done since he's left? On a pathetic squad himself....

You guys are proving his point -- we're not that far away from having a decent secondary. If all we need to do is upgrade here and there, is our inefficiency on defense accounted for primarily by the secondary?

I still don't think so. We're soft against the run and we couldn't get enough pressure when we most needed it.

We need a dominant 3-4 NT that plugs up the middle, stops the run, pushes the pocket.

The kid from Kansas, Aqib Talib, would be a good fit. He's listed at 6'1 or 6'2 and has speed. Henry as the 3rd corner by the end of the season is not a bad thing especially due to his age and propensity to be injured.

How can the Giants handle our receivers with their secondary problems while they and others can consistently take advantage of us?

Yesterday, our third cornerback got exploited at the wrong times, and we couldn't take advantage of their secondary at the right times (mostly because of penalties, drops and pressure at the wrong times).

But don't mistake one game's problems for an ongoing problem.

Even with the injury problems for Newman and Henry, and with Reeves starting 13 games, we still finished fifth in passer rating allowed, seventh in yards allowed per pass play, fourth in touchdown percentage allowed, sixth in interceptions, ninth in completion percentage allowed and fifth in lowest percentage of 20-yard passes allowed.

And our offense tore up other teams' secondaries for most of the season, whether they were depleted by injuries or not.

And to answer the question, yes, adding another quality cornerback -- someone as good as Henry or better -- would do wonders for our defense.

We need another Solid CB, to go with Newman. I never liked Henry the guy needs to go, or atleast be our #3 CB period.

I totally agree... I love Ratliff playing on the DL and his contract was justified, but he is really out of place playing NT... He is quick and versatile, but he can be outmanned with a double team, which is why we need one of those big meat eater Nose Tackles. I don't know how many times I hollered when Jacobs broke out for one of his umpteen 6 to 8 yard gains... We missed Fergy big time yesterday. A big ol NT is what the doc ordered.

Jacque Reeves did a decent job this year considering he barely made the team and was put in as a start week one, and for the next couple of weeks.

He is also asked on outside duties on nickel situations and newman covers the slot everyone here knows that. The fact of the matter is we need a competent veteran to come in, not only to be the 3rd CB but incase of injuries which was the case this season. We could also add a Jenkins/Cason/Talib in the draft add a vet. Newman and Henry are both set for our 1 and 2.

Glenn was in Jax this year not a pathetic squad either. I dont know his deflections or tackles but I know housed his only interception. I dont think he played in but half the games though.

Teams are in their nickle and dime sets about 50% of the time these days.

I agree, and if we do indeed go RB/CB in the draft, both positions run pretty deep this year.

But worst case, let's just keep Fergy.

If we can draft one, great. But we've got Fergy already and he should be able to get the job done for atleast 1 more year, esp. if he gets some rotation help for a series or two.

It's about 35 percent, but that's still quite a bit.

Does the total include downs in which special teams packages are played? If so, it'd probably bump it up closer to 50% on "real" downs.

I think teams need 3 good corners in todays NFL and while I am not thrilled with Henry I can live with him being one of those three. Reeves However, cannot be in that three as he just is not good enough

The problem here is injuries and depth. It seems Henry has been injured almost every year since he's been here. Plus he's getting up there in age.

We need 2 corners; a good one and a great one. Either by Free Agency or the Draft, it does not matter. I think they will both come from Free Agency.

JJ is going to trade those picks . . . . That's just my gut feeling.
