Do we really need to draft a Safety Early?

i'd like to see what courtney brown can do
Interesting name. That would be great if he can step up in preseason and show he deserves some playing time.

larry brown was on the ticket yesterday and he normally defends roy williams.

However yesterday he said some pretty bold things. He said hamlin was the better player and without just flat out saying it, brown said roy needs to be looked closely at because he is not the same player and Hamlin is the reason we stopped giving up the big plays this year.

I found that interesting considering brown was one of the guys like myself that always defended roy williams.

:starspin I couldn't agree more with him when he was talking about Williams and said that he wasn't the same player...he hit the nail on the head, IMO! Considering his salary, being a 1st round draft pick - his performance on the field doesnt' even come close, not at all!

No stats needed in Roy's case. You must be watching something else
Roy went from difference maker safety to a flat out unmotivated liability.
Talk about regression...

Week 2 2005 season at home against Washington, two deep TD passes(first one was on 4th and 27!!!) to Santana Moss...that was the beginning of the end.He has not been the same since.

I'm going to preface this and say that I am a "Williams supporter" - i.e., I don't want him gone.

That said, I think we are going to find out a LOT about RW this coming season.

Even RW is switching back to his old college number. He knows he didn't play as well as he should have, IMO.

Is RW the worst SS in the league. Of course not. But given RW's abilities, we all know he can play better.

Let's see how much pride he has in his game and let's see if he re-dedicates himself into improving his game.

Are you so sure he still has the ability? Think about that. Maybe he is already doing as well as he can. Just because you used to be able to do something doesn't automatically mean you still can.

I don't think Watkins is really all that bad....he seems miles ahead of Roy in coverage....his tackling needs work....but his coverage skills aren't bad.
