Do we think Kiffin keeps his job? If not, who replaces him?

Listening to Houston talk radio, Houston is not interested in The Rat. They also interviewed Lovie for 7 hours and were not impressed from what I hear.

The Rat... Lol... I'm wondering if they want to remain 3-4 with The players they have and whether or not they are content with keeping Wade as DC. Don't know if he'd want too, but he ain't getting a HC job next year, and the best he can get is DC.

Wade is most likely gone too. They want a HC to bring in his own staff, imagine that

Houston is not interested and Dalllas shouldn't be interested in the Tanning bed Screamer, I feel that he looks like he is about to burst at any moment and the players can't even concentrate on any teaching he tries to impose on them. Shame on Shanny...he is more of a disruption than an addition.

Who knows? Jones loves to do something different and if it works, he looks like a genius.

Examples:

Carter
Hensen
Garrett
Galloway
That other baseball QB
passing on Moss

The list goes on and on.

But this is what happens when a fan is picking coaches and players. Too emotional.
Let's just hope he's actually taking advice from a true football mind, and not picking coaches like we'd do it.

Kiffin is gone after this season. We have the worst defense in the history of this organization. He was awful at USC as well. He should just retire.

Makes me wonder what Lovie would do if he doesn't get a head job again this year, and someone wants him to be their DC. Doubt it would happen here, because if it's not Kiffin, it would most likely be Marilnelli.

It depends on Garrett. If garrett stays then I think Kiffin is gone and so is Callahan.

Wade Wilson will be OC and Marinelli will be DC.

I would love to see Frazier brought in as DC if he is fired.

He probably will be fired, but I'm not sure how fair it is to fire him. They had limited talent in 2012. They made a system switch without adding an influx of talent, and that resulted in some poor play on defense. There isn't much of a track record in the NFL as far as making changes of scheme just to make changes, as opposed to doing it based off of talent on a team.

I'm more concerned with our beloved General Manager establishing an identity for the defense and building players and a coordinator around the plan than I am with whether or not Kiffin is the guy to run it. He certainly didn't have the defensive line and safeties that a Tampa 2 would require.

I think Kiffin probably retires and Marinelli takes over. Unless Lovie gets a HC gig. Then, maybe Capers if he's let go in GB? I'm not sure what we'd do. We need to overhaul the front, no matter what, and we could go 3-4 or 4-3 depending on how we do that. I'd *hate* to see a third DC in three years, especially with Garrett under the gun, but I can't say I'd relish another season with Monte, either.

All depends on next week................lose to Philly at home and blow the division for a 3rd straight year.....................Garrett is gone, Jerry basically admitted as much when he said he was pondering "alternatives" when he thought we had lost yesterday.

So if Garrett is gone, I expect most of the coaching staff to go out the door with him and we do a full reboot with a clean slate of coaches (preferably some that understand basic game management this time).

Now if we beat Philly and go to the playoffs........................I think Garrett is safe, even if we get beat in the first round...........I dont agree with that, but I think a division title will buy Jerry the cover to give Opie one more year. So under that scenario, I would imagine Kiffen will retire and Marinelli will take his place. Maybe a new strenght and conditioning coach is hired because of all of these hammy injuries as well.

So everything rides on next week.

I can't tell you whether Kiffin's scheme would work or not. He wasn't able to put it in. We aren't running what he expected because we haven't had to continuity to do anything. This team ran out of baling wire and duct tape long ago. They're using mirrors, smoke and wisps of moonbeams with a huge amount of effort from a gallery of nobodies.

Kiffin and Marinelli should get Oscars for what they've managed to do with nothing. Yeah, they're the worst defense in the history of the Cowboys. They're also the best scab team I've ever seen.

I've said it more than once but I don't know how to evaluate them. If they're trying to put together defense like Seattle then they need a decent shot at it. I had misgivings when he was named DC and I still have them. But they are getting super effort from these guys and have somehow managed with Romo's help to win 8 games. That's probably twice what they should have IMO.

I'm less confident about Garrett's game. The offense is good enough if coupled with a good defense for the team to make some noise. But Garrett seems lost. He doesn't seem to have a good feel for the game. He's got two HOF talented players in Romo and Witten yelling at him and that bothers me.

OTOH, the team is definitely getting better is some aspects. What was a problem area along the OL is now becoming a strength. We have some talented skill players.

OTOH, the team is not doing well with the cap. That could be premature though pending what they do this offseason. It could turn out better or it could be problematic.

Starting all over could set the club back a year or two. Not firing Garrett could just be asking for trouble. I really don't know what'd I'd do. Usually in situations like this I tend to wait awhile and often it will sort itself out. OTOH, sometimes watchful waiting just makes you say 'what the heck was I waiting on'. I know some (a lot) think this is a no-brainer but we don't have enough data to know which fork to take.

If Garrett loses a prime time home game and blows the division for a 3rd straight season...................he is gone................so I think next week will clear up alot of things you are discussing. A new head coach is going to want his own DC, so Kiffen is gone along with Garrett.

You seem very confident based on outcomes but short term outcomes aren't predictive when you aren't playing with a full deck. You may be right in the end but I think the situation is very complicated and making huge moves like you're talking about is something to move cautiously on.

Some seem to think all will be ok or at best it can't get worse with a regime change and you can't possibly know that. I can't tell if we're some health and a few players away from competing or we're floundering in the wilderness and have lost our direction. Some here toss around with no thought the idea that these guys just suck. I don't think anyone sucks on the coaching staff but I'm having misgivings about Garrett. I don't trust my observations as a fan watching TV or even the 'All 22'. I don't like the idea your best players are yelling at the coach at all. Not one bit. That's assuming its true and its what we are assuming it is.

It is impossible for any fan here to judge the defense. You can't judge a product until you've seen it. We haven't seen anything but band aids literally and figuratively. Perhaps those with more knowledge have some answers.

In the end Jones may not be able to discern a direction and either go on instinct or indeed look at outcomes to decide. I wouldn't put that past him.

Kiffin likely is gone after this year ends... Either by retirement or by Jerry.
But I'm telling you fellas until we get a physical front seven on d... Well Vince Lombardi couldn't do much with this group.

If Kiffin retires and Marinelli leaves as DC of Lovie what do we do then? Get somebody from Seattle as DC? They press their corners in their 4-3.

Jerry may want to keep Garrett, but he has to have the cover to do it. He knows that if Garrett loses a prime time home game and blows the division for the 3rd straight season, he cant sell that to the fans.

I dont think it is just coincidence that folks like Adam Schafer and Ed Werder are reporting that Jerry wants to keep Garrett as HC, but that Garrett must make the playoffs. These guys just dont make stuff up like that, somebody in the organization is feeding them this stuff. Maybe its an indirect way of Jerry putting pressure on Garrett. Maybe its an indirect way of telling the fans that he is going to hold people accountable.

Is like Parcells used to say about the NFL, "Its a results oriented business".................................Jerry was getting booed at the high school game the other night, he knows the fans are pissed and they will not accept Garrett back if we lose a 3rd straight elimination game, especially at home. This reminds me of a comment Jerry made back in preseason when asked about Garrett and how Garrett should be graded and Jerry mentioned "tangible evidence of success" was required. Thats where your playoff berth comes in. Jerry can sell Garrett to the fans if he has a division title to show them as "tangible evidence of success"................another 8-8 season and no playoffs is a big bag of nothing to for Jerry to show the fans.

Bingo, we have a winner, Jerry will be a fool to let Marilnelli walk, I don't care if Kiffen stays or goes but Big Rod was a steal and a great coach. Marilenni is one of the best 4-3 DC out there. He is similar to Wade Phillips they are better DC's then HC's
