Steve Young was pretty critical of us last night following the game.

A little too much, I thought.

We have one of the best rushing attacks in the league, a good offensive line and a plethora or passing targets.

As usual, I think we're a smidge pass heavy, but the passing game will only get better as Roy Williams, Martellus Bennett and Miles Austin get reps with Tony Romo.

32 rushing attempts, 33 pass attempts vs the Panthers. Yep, one = a "smidge".

So far this season: 85 rushes, 89 passes. How balanced do you want it anyway?

They don't want it balanced at all, they want us to put all 3 backs out their and bring both tight ends close and run the ball 99% of the time, like Jr. High football.

Yeah I though Young was maybe overly critical of Dallas and Romo. Not a huge deal.

And while I understand we are off to a good start statistically I think Young's comments about our passing game and scoring enough points is based more upon last night's showing than the season to date statistics.

I though Romo looked uncomfortable in the pocket most of last night. I also agreed with Young that Romo to Roy doesn't look natural, it looks kind of forced or an effort to spread the ball. Its just an opinion. Not a huge deal.

Frankly, I'm a bit concerned about our passing game as well. Doesn't mean I think we're doomed, just that I have concerns. Just not sure Romo to Witten for 8 yards can be the staple of our passing game.

Its hard to forget the explosiveness we had in our passing game when we had TO and earlier Terry Glenn to boot. I think media types are making that same comparison and saying, geez, I don't know.

We'll see.

What surprised me was when Young was talking about how we can't be explosive without Owens. He really should have taken a closer look at what Owens did (or didn't do) last year instead of looking at his 3 year stats. Owens wasn't all that great last year in most games, and Roy has outperformed him this year so far.

When we running the ball all over teams I don't want to be balanced.

There is no law against running the ball more than passing it.

The last two weeks, the running backs should have totaled more carries than Tony Romo did pass attempts.

And it didn't happen.

I'm not sure it ever will.

We did not deserve to beat the Giants, our QB played terrible, call it a bad bounce if you want to live in denial but if that pass to witten is where it is supposed to be the int does not happen, and our defense folded again in that game. Honestly we did not play superbly against Carolina but we did deserve to win.

This team is better than the NY Game but not good enough to be 3-0, too many mistakes. We have the potential but still can not play mistake free football (or closer to), that is why we are 2-1.

Our offense will be fine, and as long as Garrett and Romo stay CALM and don't try to light up the sky with passes we could do great things. They have not been able to refrain from doing so in the past several years at times. Maybe they are learning, Im starting to think so, especially after Romo's press conference last night. Although what jason was thinking on the 2 and goal plays was beyond me, even wade knew something was wrong with that...

All that to say, stats don't give you any points in the standings but they do indicate potential, our team has had a ton of potential here lately, nobody can deny that, its putting it together, maturing, and learning how to play when it counts, thats what this team has lacked...looks like they will have another chance to work on it coming up. Should be, SHOULD be, 5-1 coming out of the bye.

Deserve had nothing to do with it. Even as bad as Romo was playing, the Cowboys had the lead at the end of the game. If the Cowboys D makes the stop at that time, it would have been a W, no matter how ugly. And 31 pts is really not that ugly. :D

:bang2::bang2::bang2::bang2:insanity. By your definition most teams in the NFL deserve to win every single game.

Well if our D had just made this stop or that stop we would have won...uh...therefor....we deserve to win....ridiculous.

We deserved to loose, are QB played AWFUL, our D was weak, and coaching was inadequate.i Even if in some bizzaro world if we actually did deserve to win that game (dumbest argument ever) deserving to win means jack squat, there is no column for losers that deserve to win, just for losers. We lost, we played pretty terrible, get over it.

Again, deserve, has nothing to do with a win. HALF, not most, WILL win every single week, but deserve has nothing to do with it.

Cowboys could rush for a 1000 yards and make no turnovers but if the opposing D stops them from scoring, then they LOSE. Deserve has NOTHING to do with it.

I want it 50/50...but the problem with the playcalling is that when we are running the ball so well, Garrett decides to throw. Say we have 5 runs in a row that get us 2 first downs. He seems to think we are due for a pass...it falls incomplete and its 2nd and 10. Run gets us 3. Third and 7...gotta pass.

The timing of some of the passes is off and it takes away from the run game even more. The way we have been running the ball the scales should really be tipped towards the running game as far as playcalling goes.

I dont care about percentages.

In some games teams will give you the run and in others some will give you the pass.

The "smart move" is to take what the other team is giving you, take advantage of mismatches - those things can vary from game to game... obviously

The truth is, we're two points and a lucky bounce or two from being 3-0 and everyone is all over our jock.

The hysteria over that Giants game was way overdone. We're a pretty darn good team.

Ya I hear Greeny say "the Giants and Eagles are lightyears ahead of the Cowboys"

REALLYY!!? Lightyears!? They beat us by two points when they had a +4 turnover ratio in the game. Spare me with that logic!

Wow...I didn't hear that one. What a moron. :laugh2:

If you are averaging over 7 yds a carry you should run the ball more than pass it. It's that simple. But you cannot abandon the pass either or they'll stack the box tight.

I submit you shouldn't pass the ball at the GD 1 yd line esp when you're running it down their throats. I'll give them the first play but the second one was stupider than stupid.
