Do you guys really think a new coaching staff is going to fix everything within one offseason?

Short answer: yes.

This team is stocked with talent and for them to be 6-7 right now is a total embarrassment. This squad rivals the 1997 team as the most underachieving in franchise history.

A staff that can use the talent at hand correctly makes all the difference. Look no further than Sunday's opponent, the Rams, before Sean McVay arrived.

Now you’re Just picking a fight . If I’m such a troll, I still fail to understand why you continue to entertain my “troll posts”. Why not ignore me? There’s literally a button for it. I thought we found a common ground, but I guess not . Whatever.

Also, there you go again attacking my personal life. “Anyone who has never been in a locker room.” Why make such assumptions based off of an internet post? I understand you attacking my opinion, but do not attack who I am and what I’ve done personally. That’s going a bit too far.

I feel they potentially should / could improve ... not sure what expectations the fan base here will have and how much time they will give a new coaching staff. I still feel while we have some solid talent on this team some of it is overrated and the new coaching staff needs the ability and control to make the tough decisions. Right now as we know if a player doesn’t like the coaches decisions they run to Jerry. It’s been 24+ years of this and it’s going to take more than coaching change to truly impact this teams culture. However I am hopeful and excited if a change happens at the new interest and potential

no. What I would like to see are the beginnings of culture change, where we go less cupcake and more toughened, hardened football team. An end to the constantly egregious stupid mistakes, an end to the bad time management. give me those things, and I'll be happy
Dart-- that would be good change

Listen, if you're going to just quit, give up, have no hope, whatever you want to call it please do us all a favor and go root for some other team. Whining and complaining about everything everyday does nothing but make this a horrible place for those of us that do have hope. And that goes to all the other posters who feel the same way.

Not attacking you at all. Just seems like you haven’t been in a locker room since you believe the players are not able to change with the new regime.

"Do you guys really think a new coaching staff is going to fix everything within one offseason?"

in the JJ era? no
under even normal ownership? no

coaching changes generally mean scheme changes and could take years of restocking players

there was good reason to fire Rod, Kris, and Jason after running a 4-2 all day vs the Rams allowing 270y on the ground in a playoff game

but I don't want JG fired and I want Kris promoted to DC - only because I doubt JJ can hire better

be very careful what you wish for

Those things will make a huge difference. It's certainly a culture issue at this point. Game management is garbage, there's no confidence in tight situations and the team is soft.

You're correct on all of the above. there is no discipline on this team. the players are more interested in themselves than in fixing the actual team. When things get tough, the team screws up.

I have trouble believing a new coaching staff can grow thumbs on DBs who can't catch a football

or roll back the clock for Frederick and Martin

or make a XWR out of any of these WRs - none are even big enough

nor do I think they can make a decent LG out of Conner - maybe flip to OT at best

this really isn't just about how to use players / scheme ... it's also the players brought in by the FO

There's typically a period of adjustment with any new HC, even with one that's competent.

It'll also require a considerable period of time for the players to buy into the new schemes.

Agreed. We can't stay loaded at every position.
charron---if you think about it...what a total "Burn" on cowboys and their brand....after finish last year Jerry was "all in" for this year and we all got so suckered punched...its got to be one of the lowest drop-offs in history?

Jerry's fatal mistake wasn't player management when he went all in. we know we look good on paper there. Where he failed to go all in was investing in the best positional coaches and in a Garrett team he puts more emphasis on each individual coach to make their unit better. And yea I agree this should burn jerry and the whole organization for decades to come.

I answered this in another thread. Might be one of my best posts ever? lol. It would be like a freshly cut open Apple. In one season it would turn around real quick, would look real good, smell good, taste good......Only in time it will show signs of deterioration and will begin to rot. The reason is simple, JERRY JONES. As long as Jerry is involved from socks to jocks, this team is never going to go anywhere. WHoever comes in will have an immediate short term impact. Everyone will get excited. Dallas will make the playoffs. Might even win one. Will not make the SB or Championship game but next year they will. Pretty soon Jerry Jones ugly fingerprints will begin to show, (Just how apples begin to show signs of ripening) and whatever hype Urban Meyer or any other coach brought to the organization will begin to dwindle and spiral back down. Might take a few years. That is the pattern folks.

But hey, it would be a fun couple of years till Jerry soiled another coach and good team.

Hypothetically speaking, lets say Dallas gets your dream staff (HC, DC, OC, and ST coordinator). Rather it be Riley, Rivera, Rhule, Meyer, etc.

Do you really believe they can change this team within an offseason?
The new HC will have to bring a modern playbook and a new scheme. That is not easy in itself. After that, comes the players....

As we all know, the culture of the Cowboys is a major problem. A new HC may help with this, but it will not solve the problem completely, especially not in one offseason. Think about it. What is one thing our players lack? Leadership. Brotherhood. Wills to win. Compassion for the game. Thinking as a unit/team rather than an individual.

You look at the Ravens and you see a classic football team. A team that has each others backs (brotherhood). Everyone in that locker room gets along. Everyone in that locker room plays for the team rather than themselves. Everyone in that locker room has energy, passion, and most of all, they have fun at the end of the day. Even though all these players chase money, contracts, and likes on social media, they don't put it ahead of football.

Our players do NOT do this. Rather it be because Jason Garrett allows it, or the culture of Jerry Jones, it will not be an easy fix AT ALL. Look at Jaylon Smith or even Zeke this season. Shannon Sharpe made a good point on Undisputed Today when talking about Le'Veon Bell and his stupid bowling situations. He said "Players today don't care about winning. They could care less about winning. They care about social media and likes." That perfectly represents our team.

Not only does the new HC have to create a new playbook, gameplan, and scheme, along with changing the culture and attitudes of our players, they have to adjust to the team themselves. Settling into a new team is very hard, especially if we grab a college HC. On top of that, our players will have to adjust as well. Some players struggle more than others when it comes to change. That will be our team next year.

On top of THAT, we have like 20 or 30+ players to resign or let go of. That likely means we will likely have a lot more new players on our team through the draft, free agency, or trading. This team may look very different from what we see today (hopefully for the better).

New players, new HC, new scheme, new culture, new attitude, new gameplan, etc. 2021 may be our year, but along with our schedule (we play the NFCW (YIKES), the NFCN (Browns may improve, Steelers look good even with injuries, and the Ravens may still be redhot), possibly the Saints if we win our division, Packers or Vikes, and more, 2020 does not look like our season at all.

I would NOT raise my expectations beyond anything we feel right now for 2020 no matter what HC or player we pick up. If you do, you will be disappointed.
It does not have to be "fixed" instantly.

It will get better if they hire the correct HC.

Just following the team will be more enjoyable if they get a legit HC.

The answer is of course a new coach can turn it all around quickly. We can go down the list of coaches who have changed it all in one year. It's a regular thing in today's NFL with so many teams evenly balanced.

Was listening to this week's Hanging With the Boys podcasts, and they are starting to wonder if Jerry wouldn't offer draft picks for someone like Sean Payton, e.g. Bucs when they grabbed Gruden. I'm not sure how connected they are to the vibe of the front office, but they do work for the team.

They are convinced that with his age and all the years this team has put into building this roster, Jerry will not wait for anything close to a rebuild and will go to the bank on a proven coach if that's what it takes to upgrade.

It is possible, yes. We are a good team, and really are not far off from being a super bowl contender.

Oh no! The OP knows. We’re doomed, years away from any improvement, no matter what we do! No optimism allowed!
