Do you know what play still irks me from this past season?

Truth of the matter is the core if this team is pretty soft. It's still a businessman culture her and as much as I support the RKG mantra they still need a few football players, trench man type.

There is plenty of due criticism for this past season, but I don't think it is fair to say that this was a team unwilling to fight for each other. There were too many comebacks in the season that say otherwise.

The only guy on our team I can see standing up to anyone is Dez.

RKGs and character are important but you need some bullies or else you're gonna get bullied.

Anyone that tells you attitude doesn't matter must not remember how fired up this whole team would get late in the games during MBIII's prime.

Attitude reflects leadership - and you're spot on, this team reflects it's coaches robotic monotonous ways.

Sorry, I don't agree. To win ball games, you need to go out there and execute..its always good to play with emotion, but staying focused and executing IN SPITE of bullying kills the opposing teams pride more than anything..

I dont see how anyone could disagree with this. Ware could've leveled Tate if he wanted to there's no rule that says you cant initiate contact against an offensive player when the ball is past the line of scrimmage. But that's what this team is, a relatively soft bunch that just want to go about their business. Dez and Ratliff are the only guys with a mean streak and the latter cant stay on the field.

The team needs to learn that they cannot make the other team respect them, but, they can learn to make the other team not disrespect them.

that play was dirty, and i would have been ashamed of a cowboys player for throwing it. tate went for lee's head when he could have easily made a good block by aiming for lee's chest or midsection or thighs. i was pissed that the refs did nothing... and i was also pissed that lee's teammates did nothing.

Strange, because I used to cheer when Woodson made bone crushing hits like that. To each is own, I guess. I enjoy big hits. I even thought the one on Lee was a good shot. Back when I played, WRs cracked down on LBs like that as an assignment. BOOM. See you next play. That's how I played football. I'm sure others as well.

I know the league's stance on that block, and I know that eventually any hit that catches a guy off guard or is too hard will be illegal, but I don't care. Frankly, I loved the hit by Tate then, and I love it now. If I ever saw one of our receivers put his shoulder into a LBs chest and decleat him, I would stand up and cheer, penalty or not. I know I'm in the minority, but just a few year's ago a WR would have been honored for a block like that. The game has changed, and rightly so, but retaliation would have made us look even more like pansies. There was no low block, no head shot, and it wasn't a beast driving a QB into the turf. Contact was clearly in the chest; his head flew back from whiplash action. We would love a hit like that from Lee separating a guy from the ball even if it brought a penalty.

I don't see the big deal.

I don't think you're in the minority--maybe the minority amongst women who haven't been around the game. But for me, and others I know, big hits are common and we get excited about them.

That was a pretty much a cheap shot. I never like when players do that when the other guy doesn't see it coming or even really expect it.

Cool for a big hit highlight reel but Tate shouldn't feel like a bad*** because of it.

Of course not, but it's not like he knew he wasn't looking. He was just doing his job and it ended up looking that way. From a fan's perspective, that's what I like to see. It's part of the reason I like the game.

I'm not a fan of the new rule, but regardless if he leads with head, shoulder, launches, etc., all crack backs will be penalized from now on.. Thanks to The dictators sissification of the NFL, we will no longer see any form of crack back, or reverse field blocks anymore...

there are big hits, and there are dirty, dangerous hits. seems like you don't understand the difference.

It is the COWBOY WAY. Ever since Jimmy Johnson left EVERYBODY, the media, opposing teams, coaches, players, even the fans have called this team mentally WEAK and NOT a physical team. Get physical with this team, hit'em in the mouth and they roll over.... just ask GOLDEN TATE...

That's what I dislike about Jason Garrett, he has no ATTITUDE, no FIRE just another robotic Princeton pedigree....making business decisions like his players.

Who were the bullies on the Rams teams with Warner ? Perhaps the 49ers teams with Montana ?

The real bullies ?

I think you guys are overthinking this. Especially in todays NFL.

There's nothing you can change about the reactions in that gif that would have made the results different last year. With that said though, clean block or not, no one (Maybe apart from Dez) ever stands up for anything on this team. They get shoved and pushed around and don't seem to have a care in the world about it. As fans, you'd like to see a little "dog" in them because even if it just may be a heat of the moment thing, at least you get the impression they care.

The QB throws picks and sulks on the bench. The other players rarely ever help out their teammates who get blasted. I really don't see that "closest team" stuff we heard about last year.. but again that's just talk and we know this team does a whole lot of that.

It's nice and all to have sweethearts with good character on your team, but without some nasty it's tough to win a physical sport like football.

Well, we're finally switching to an attacking D philosophy - moving away from the passive read-and-react style. I'm hoping that means that we start "dishing it out" on D rather than "taking it".

Like someone else said, the best way to retaliate is to win the game. This is not hockey. The days of Deacon Jones and Lyle Alzado are long gone. It was a clean hit and Tate better enjoy it because he'll never catch anyone that un-aware again. The Seahawks aren't going to sneak up on anybody this year.

That was just a good play on their part. That whole SEA game this team did come out flat and play pretty uninspired football. That game, and the second half of the Bears game were about as dispirited as we played all season.

Tough players aren't inconsistent with the RKG philosophy. As long as they're not inviting dumb penalties, I think a couple big hitters and trash talkers would do some good for this roster. Especially if we can put a player like that on the OL.

Rat, when he's on the field, does a nice job of this on the DL. Something tells me Church has a bit of that attitude to him, too. We've got some really tough guys, too, in Romo and Witten who also set a tone by playing with busted ribs, punctured lungs, and ruptured spleens. All of that plays into that team attitude.

Overall, though, this is a good topic and a good, critical thread. I remember how embarrassing that smack was on Lee at the time. I wouldn't have been too upset, even, with tacking on another 15 yards for retaliation at the end of it, given how that game was going already.

I miss Columbo. Obviously, as a player he was done but for a couple years he was the best right tackle we had had in a long time and his nastiness was refreshing. I'd like to have one of those guys per unit.
