Do you LOVE or HATE your hometown team?

I've noticed a lot of conversation here about "I'm from there, but I hate them". Or, "I'm a Cowboy fan, but I'm from there, so I'm pulling for them..."

It appears to be one-or-the-other, no gray area.................

I, for one, I'm from Penna. Was born there in 1960 and left in '79. I've been a Cowboy fan since I was a toddler. I don't even remember "becoming" a Cowboy fan, I just "AM" one.

And I detest "anything" Pennsylvania in the sporting world. The Eagles of course, are No. 1 on the list. The Steelers, Phillies, Penn State, etc, etc, etc.......you name it. In large part because it's so SHOVED down your throat, and the local media outlets are WAY overboard in their bias's. You just grow to resent anything "local" because they overhype anything over .500.

Notre Dame was really big where I'm from too. So I can't stand them either.

Anyway, just wondering if more folks are like me or not like me........??

I am from Wisconsin.

I hate the Packers. I hate the Bucks. Does WI have a soccer team? If so, I hate them. But.... I hate soccer in general, so that's probably irrelevant.

I hate UW-Madison.

I like Marquette. The only sports team in the state I like.

I live 30 miles East of Cleveland.

I don't hate the Browns.

Became a Cowboys fan Super Bowl X...I was Nine.

Hated the Steelers and wanted the Cowboys to win.

Been a die hard fan ever since.

I hate Philly much worse than Pitt. I kind of admire the less-whininess of the Steeler fans....though I wish Tennesee was representing the AFC this year.

I'm a Cowboy fan and have been for a couple of decades. But I'm afraid I consider our "general" fan base to be a bit whiney and sometimes even whimpy. Nobody here of course. Also, having lived in Ohio, NC, and La, I guess I was spread thin in my early years before moving to Dallas about 20 years ago.

I do pull for our Cowboys far and away more than any other NFL team, if that helps.

Dont' really have a hometown. Military will do that to you.

...but I've lived in NOVA for the last 12 years...the longest I've stayed in the same area in my life...and the only pro team I support from the area is the Capitals.

Texas born and Texas raised, but after retiring from the military we live in my wife's hometown in GA. I root for all Texas's teams unless they are playing the Cowboys or Longhorns, except for Cuban. I don't dislike the Mavs, just Cuban.

I'm originally from Texas, but I moved to North Carolina in middle school...and I HATE the Carolina Panthers....especially the fans.

I think the main reason is because I am constantly getting into arguements with them...which is probably a common theme with most people.

I was born in Madison... I like the Bucks (still upset about Redd's knee ) and UW-Madison.

The Packers are my VEEEERY distant 2nd favorite team behind the Cowboys. Distant to the point where I don't really care when they lose, I simply smile when they win.

Grew up in the Bay Area... it was a blast hating the 49ers growing up, especially during the early-mid 90s. I still dislike them and the Raiders, but it's tough to maintain a true hatred for such pathetic teams that aren't a threat to the 'Boys.

I don't hate the team. I actually started rooting for them once Collins took over.

However I can't stand Bud Adams. It goes back to their one year stop in Memphis.

As a Cowboy fan, that would be the case in all NFL cities. Other states really hate hearing "America's Team" still...even after no playoff wins in a decade. But you you ave to admit, there do seem to be Dallas fans spread all over the place, just Dallas haters too.

Man, I feel for those guys. They beat the Steelers pretty convincingly at the end of the season. Then they thoroughly dominated Baltimore, but lost on some crazy freak plays, two goal line fumbles, penalties, and that wild non call when the play clock expired that kept the winning drive alive. Even CJ dominated the Ravens like no back had all season in the 1st half and then got hurt early the second half. I've never seen a losing playoff team dominate like they did.

I am from South Texas, Houston is only 100 miles away. I am an Astros fan, not a Rangers fan. Basketball, i am a Spurs fan. Football, i live and die the Boys but never had one ounce of interest in the Oilers or Texans. I tend to keep it in state...i mean come on, Texas is the best.

I live in Delray Beach, fl, but was born and raised in Miami. Let me tell you other than our division rivals the dolphins are the next most hated team in my book. I'm sick of hearing about the perfect 72 season, that's why i was hoping the pats would pull it off last year. Dan Marino is treated like he's won 4 super bowls instead of a man who came up short numerous times in the playoffs.

The previous 6 years before this one was so enjoyable, because the dolphins hadn't really experienced alot of losing seasons. Finally the dolphin fans saw what it felt like not to go 10-6 or 11-5 every season. Also they always seem to grab our coaches whether it was Jimmy, Norv, or Wannstedt and even the current regime they have in place are from dallas.

So yes i hate my hometown team and hope they lose every week.

I live in Utah so this state does not have a pro football team. If Utah had a pro football team, Denver would want one too!


There is not another team I root for. None!
