Do you put much stock in OTA?

And even if so, I doubt it would be reported.

Everything is fine on the Good Ship Lollipop.

You obviously don't know anything about the Dallas media based on that comment.

Galloway, Engle, etc live by Cowboys controversy. If there were even a hint of anything wrong at Valley Ranch, they'd be all over it.

I was referring to the fact that the team still is cautious about the media. It is clear that the message is everything is great and it is one big happy family.

As much as the media types all feel liberated now they have "more" access, it seems to me that the organization can still keep them at bay if they have to.

Oh ok. I took it to mean that you were saying that the media might not report it if someone in the organization expressed concern over the missed OTA's.

I see what you're saying now.

gotta link to where theo or I piled on skins or giants players missing OTAs?

c'mon, don't tell me you didn't each get a hearty laugh out of Skin and Giant players skipping their OTAs

I know I did

Why would any of these players need extra reps or practices? It was Parcells who single handedly brought the whole franchise down last year. The players were the picture of perfection and were absolutely flawless last year. Especially TO, Roy and Julius. You would be hard pressed to find a single bad play or mental mistake among those three. :laugh2:

Please stop overreacting. The off season cannot end soon enough,

The overreaction is double-edged. Those screaming that it is the worst are no more guilty of emotionalism than those who dismiss it as a worthless practice session.

It is not the worst thing to happen. Nor is it all that great the some of our core starters aren't getting in as much work as they can.

I said that because I'm not going to get into some pointless argument over voluntary practices. Phillips has had way more than Parcells ever had. There are no pads yet. Come tell me if they ever miss mandatory or training camp practices, then you have a reasonable complaint. But right now, I'm not to worried about it.

Wade Phillips scheduled these OTAs to ensure his team has big headstart when TC rolls. Presume he wants his team fully conversant with all aspects of his defense and Garrett's offense. That way the Cowboys will start at a much higher level of performance then they would have w/o the OTAs.

Will give our vets who missed these OTAs (Glenn, TO, Ferguson, Williams, etc) some leeway but they better not have to play catchup and thus hold the team back with TC begins. Am very disappointed that Ware missed any of the OTAs.

Well the good thing that come out of their missing these OTAs were that younger & some untried players got a chance to show their stuff. That can only be good for players like Austin & Hurd; same goes for Keith Davis, Courtney Brown, some of the younger NTs like Ola & Stanley, etc.

Mature response.

did you not read the post I had after that, I'm not going to get into some pointless argument about freaking OTAs.

In recent mick's mail

Rusty Appleton, Oklahoma City, Okla.: Now, I try not to get all upset about things like this, but I just got finished reading an article on ESPN.com about how T.O. and Terry Glenn aren't participating in OTA's. And it concerns me a bit. I'm just saying that this is why I miss Bill Parcells, because stuff like this wouldn't fly with him.

Mickey: Parcells only had four OTA practice sessions in the off-season and one mini-camp for veterans last year. Before that, I don't think he even utilized his OTA sessions. These guys are out here every Tuesday and Thursday after their workout sessions throwing anyway. The Cowboys have scheduled 11 OTA practices this year and two mini-camps, so chances are all the guys aren't going to be here for all those OTA's. Hey, it's a slow news time of year, so whatever tidbit if found is blown into a national story. Really, it's not that big a deal. Plus, do you guys realize these are T-shirts and shorts workouts; three-quarters speed. But even so, without pads, tight end Anthony Fasano was fallen on in a pile-up and now he's not practicing because he has a sprained A.C. joint in his shoulder. Nice, huh.

dismissing something is actually showing lack of emotion

Honestly, I didn't even read the thread. I saw the title, looked at who it was (Shockey and Burress), dismissed it as par for the course for those two and didn't think about it until this thread brought it back up.

Guaranteed next fall when someone screws up we will have a poster actually claim it was due to the fact he missed a OTA the first week of June. Please people!
