Do you think Gronkowski fits into the teams future plans...

Thats like shooting your friend by accident and saying at least I didnt kill you.

And yes I've been screaming about this oline for years.

I've been screaming about witten missing blocks.

There is a big difference too between missing a blocking assignment and bot being able to stop your guy.

this guy flat out didnt know what he was doing, and the result was our qb got leveled with a completely clean lane to run at the qb its dangerous.

Pro Bowl fullbacks miss assignments virtually every game. How often do crack shot snipers accidentally shoot their friends?

Poor analogy. No, stupid analogy.

Getting shot at is not normal for anyone. Gettting hit as an NFL QB is.

And it assumes only one person commits the offense, whereas NFL QB's get hit after many missed blocks by many people.

Even if you wanted to try and fabricate an analogy out of this, the fair way to ask it is if you have 8 friends that all accidentally shoot at you, 7 of them graze you or only cause a wound that isn't serious, but but the 8th one actually harms you. Are the 1st 7 guys who shot at you without resulting in serious damage blameless and the last one is the only one that did something that endangered you?

Got both romo and bryant injured... i don't like him. He might be one of the 3 gronkowski brothers but he basically tanked our season single handedly...

ummm, what was the team's record before Romo and Bryant got hurt?

Do you not expect him to learn from his mistakes? I think he can and will improve. Nothing wrong with bringing in some competition, but I wouldn't write the guy off. That would be silly.

I think we should keep him as a starter. He was never consistently a problem other than those couple misfortunes from the missed blocks, but on a given day he had a few great plays. He was an undrafted rookie last year and made plenty of rookie mistakes, probably wasn't ready to start, but I think we can make something out of him.

Most likely if he is on the roster he loses alot of snaps to jon phillips...at least that is what I would think would happen if we dont have another true fullback brought in.

Man I hope Phillips comes back full strength.

I know he recieved a lot of crap for missing that block that led to Romos injury but all that aside, do you think he fits into the teams future plans or would you prefer someone else? Is the organization still high on him?

He was bad, someone needs to be brought in to challange him, (just like with all the positions) if he wins the job then he wins it. No one should be safe.

I disagree that he was bad. He had lapses, as rookies do, and as players switching positions do. He wasn't a FB in college.

He ran hard and was a willing and eager blocker who was trying to learn on the go.

I'm not sure how much higher he can go, and maybe he won't develop into more than he is, but he showed enough to give him the shot to earn a spot next year.

I don't think anyone here has said he shouldn't have competition for the job have they?

If he played for the Eagles would you be saying the same thing? Likely no.

He was bad, this team is full of complacent prima donnas that need to be pushed. Hopefully Garrett can establish that competition in training camp, nobodies job should be safe.

We played him after he caused season ending injuries to Romo, Bryant, and then proceeded in casing Kitna to miss time but wouldn't play Tashard becasue he couldn't tackle on special teams. That's the ineptitude by team leadership that casues 6-10 seasons.

If they cut him I wouldn't care at this stage. Still don't know why we hang on to guys like Gronk but let the Amendola's of the world go. He was really good in St. Louis (85 receptions) this year and would fit well in our system as the slot right about now.

No one is saying he should not have competition, How is Gronk a Prima Donna he was a rookie FA.

You are like a lot of the poster in this thread over reacting because of the injury to Romo and Dez getting hurt was not Gronks fault. Guys get hurt a lot on special teams even if he blocks the guy some one else could have tackles Dez and broke his ankle.

He was a rookie and he made a rookie mistake typical of fans that react to one or two plays and miss everything else. Expect every player to be a robot and never make a mistake.

Please GB and Steeler players made a ton of mistakes. Rodgers got his head taken off and that player was not fired in Greenbay or benched because of one play.

I miss Cricket Anderson....

Why he was not a better FB he missed blocking assignments as a vet and was injured all the time. He was ok and he was a big guy but he was limited as well and had no upside after 3 years and add in off the field issues

I think the guys is terrible because he was, he sucked, you are only making excuses for him because he is on the Cowboys. I said there are to many prima donnas on this team that need to be pushed and have competition. I never said Gronkowski was, learn to comprehend what you read.

It is what you inferred by the way you posted. It is also irrelevant to the conversation unless you think he is a Prima Donna.

Making excuse hahha; you guys are funny it is about understanding expectations of players and putting them in perspective and your over reaction due to an injury. Typical myopic fan . instant gratifcation everyone sucks if they are not an instant probowler fan.

Positives.........Has really good hands and decent speed for a fullback.

Negatives.......He gets confused on blocking assignments and missed blocks that got Romo, Dez, and Kitna all injured during the season.

I probably go in a different direction myself, we need more of a road grader FB than a receiving FB.

My .02

I think he showed improvement though out the season and at least should be back at camp next season to compete.

Ditto. That said, I think there could be a huge improvement at the position. I keep waiting for the next Newhouse or Johnston, but apparently we whiff when it comes to fullbacks lately. I had some hope for Crickett, but he turned out to be a disappointment too.

I'm not sure what you are saying. How would you use him differently, and how are they wasting time because of his family having some success? His brother in NE was a rookie just like he was, and we didn't use him the same way NE did anyway.

Im saying you need to get the guy the ball to bring out his true value.

If you're not ever using him to his strengths than just go get a guy who is more talented at blocking.

He is a weapon if used right. If not he is below average at just blocking.
