Do you think Parcells will sacrifice this team just to win a SB

I am thinkng hes got an eye towards winning this thing here and now, while also keeping the other eye on Jones, who has his eyes on every Lombardi Trophy that will ever be made in the future.

They will work together to ensure whle the boys ascend the NFC, they will have the pieces to remain there long after Parcells is history.

Marcus Coleman at FS
Jason Fabini at RT
Kevin Mawae at C
Jerald Sowell at FB
Willie McGinnest LB

Does Parcells bring in these guys to "quick fix" this team or keep looking for younger players to help this team in the furture?

I think it alright to bring in some vets for leadership and to fix a problem but we already have enough needs to fill in 2 years let alone building the team for a one year run at the bowl.

I think Parcells has done a great job rebuilding and playing for the present. His pedigree has always been defense first, and last year he took canty, ware and spears.

Also I seriously doubt all of those players on your list will be here next season. I would love to see sowell at FB, and let Polite continue to develop. and Fabini/Mawae may be worth a look but not for a long term contract or a lot of money.

In the end I'm confident that we will have another solid draft this offseason, but I have no problem if we add a couple of vets to make a serious run this year even if it means limited playing time for some younger players this upcoming season.

He may quick fix it in order to have a chance at winning the SB, in his own mind, but it will never happen this year...no way. We will need at least a couple more years of rebuilding the offensive line and receivers, imo.

This board is whacked. When did signing some old guys that helped you win a SB become a bad thing? Most franchises would take a roster full of 40 year olds if it would get them a Lombardi. Even if we bring in Willie McGinest and Willie McGinest's dad our average age will still be no worse than average- way below average on D.

I can picture it now there's a ticker tape parade, corks popping in open limos, and from the rear the grumbling...."yeah but now we're screwed with all these old bums"...

I disagree, a few bounces of the football that didn't go our way and a few made field goals and this team goes deep in the playoffs last season.

It all depends on the offensive line, because without a running game and adequate protection for Bledsoe, this team isn't going anywhere no matter how good the defense ends up being.

Your premise is faulty. If this team wins a Superbowl, it really does not matter if it was a quick fix or a long term fix, the goal was achieved. Let's focus upon winning the first Superbowl then we can start to talk about having dynasties and the merits of building the team younger.

To answer your question, I think he does both. The drafts have been good since Bill took over and, while on the surface it does appear to be a veteran team, there is a solid young core in Roy Williams, Jason Witten, Terrance Newman, DeMarcus Ware, Marcus Spears, Patrick Crayton, and Pettite.

Bill will continue to do what he does best, add talent, no matter the age.

What kind of thread?

Where every imbecile with an ax to grind with Coach Parcells comes out and claims he is just out for his own legacy and doesn't care about what he is doing to our beloved team?

If what he wants to do is win a championship, I fail to see what everyone's big problem is.

Unless of course it is to complain that things are not being done their way, which coincidentally doesn't add up to a damn thing and is utterly laughable.

:lmao2: And he may do that just to:

Prove a point to the media and fans

Because he is just a Giants Homer trying to ruin it for cowboys fans.

Because he is just doing it for his ego that he can take out a whole team.

Because it would increase his betting time at the horse track.

Because not only does he not like young players, he does not like old players talking to young players.

Because he only likes his older players and they are not getting any younger.

Because most importantly...he is the devil.

I don't know when it came to be that signing anyone over 30 is a terrible signing no matter what, but its become pretty comical. You bring up a player's name and no one cares what the contract numbers are, how much of a value he provides, what his production has been ... the first question is "How old is he?", and that's all that matters.

There have been numerous examples of teams that have won the Belichick way of finding good value through free agency to rebuild and stock their teams into Superbowl winners the past 5-7 years. The Patriots did it. The Ravens built for the Superbowl 1 year. The Bucaneers won with a journeyman free agent QB. The question is whether building from the ground up the 1989 way into a multi Superbowl dynaty is just a outdated fairy tale in today's NFL. So far the evidence is pointing towards yes. Maybe the Steelers will be the first ones to buck the trend.
