Do you think that Dallas will ever have a HC for longer than 5 years?

I look at the "continuty" deal and it seems to work for a lot of teams.

NE, Pittsburgh, Tenn., Philly, NYG.

Each year they know there program, and know what they want.

We have a high-turnover and coaches that aren't really qualified. (Wade/Garrett)

While we let coaches go that are now young HC's, Sparano and Haley.

Yes, Jerry did go get Parcell's...but how long was that going to last anyway with his age, etc.?

We are the Dallas Cowboys and we deserve that continuty...Maybe we were spoiled with Landry.

I look at the possible candidates and see Holmgren 60yrs old, Shanahan- 56, etc, etc. But how long will they last?

I'm not sold one bit on Garrett becoming the next HC either. How can he control a team, when he can't even control his players on offense (and I'm not just talking about TO)?

What do you think? Do you even think we will ever see the day again? And if we do....who will it be? I want to know if you guys know if there are any up-and-comers out there...or if we should go with a vet., etc. etc.

Jerry Jones just needs to a find a reasonably, young guy (make a smart hire) and stick with him

it seems he's already thinking about coaching continuity, in fact has stated it before

he just needs to find that younger, un-Wade guy to be it

It depends. Will we get Shanny next year? That guy would make a difference around here.

I really, really wish that was the case> Guess we'll find out this season.

Why do you think that Hos? I just don't see it. He may be very bright, but I just can't see him leading 53 guys into battle, and dealing with 53 different personalities.

I have no doubts about him at all. Never have.

No I don't think Dallas will ever have a coach for longer than five years, and I will tell you why. As long as Jerry Jones plays coach instead of just being the owner it will always be a problem.

Yep, when Cowher or Stoops come calling after this season.

I believe that a young O.C or D.C is the way to go. I don't care for Garrett as a H.C. A H.C needs to have a strong, respected voice by all. He's lacking in that department...seriously. We'll have to wait and see the cream rise to the top next season to get a better picture of true candidates. We don't need any old retirees coming in to save the day. Fresh faces and ideas. Clean slate.

Garrett is undoubtedly a smart guy, but the question is can he consistently win. So far he has shown the growing pains that the media predicted and I can't help but say it has affected his chances at a HC position...at least this past season. I feel he would have left if he had the chance and he didnt get that chance. I still think that Shanahan will end up in Dallas, with this being Wades last year barring a superbowl win. It's just end the tea leaves for him to be gone. Garrett may get a shot, but I would have to bet against him.

I don't think even a Tom Landry would stand much of a chance these days...from the fans, media, or Jerry Jones.

I understand times are different and it was an expansion team, but it would be interesting to hear from an old timer, or historian, what the mentality towards Landry was his first 5 years.

Garrett can't even coach his 1 little area, and he can't handle certain types of players, I don't think being a leader of 53 men is his calling. Garrett should go into medicine or something.

Yeah, I don't agree with that and never will.

If they can win a Super Bowl they can stay here.

Jerry is loyal to a fault to anyone that wins Lombardis for him.

If Wade wins a SB next year I wouldn't be surprised to see him last 6 or 7 years. Especially if the defense is the driving force behind that trophy.

If we do not win big next year and the defense is patchy everyone expects Wade gone and Garrett brought in. If Garrett then takes this team to a title in a year or so after his hire he'd have some longevity.

It is going to be tough for anyone to last in Dallas because we do not have Philly aspirations but if the team can have success (plus handle Jerry's involvement) then a guy can in fact last.

I wouldn't say never but after 1 year... wow.

Garrett has hardly proven to be a failure.

Norv Turner got what 7 or 8 years as a head coach?

Jimmy Johnson was awful as a rookie coach. He poured warm water over Aikman basically and had no clue about NFL offense. But he seemed to be ok eventually... :D

Wade is like 61 yrs old. I can't see him coaching that long.
