Do you think Wade should bench Romo if push came to shove?

But as a coach in the NFL, doesn't Wade have to say to himself at some point if Romo keeps struggling-"what can I do as the coach of this team to make him play better?

Steve Young was benched in his career
Joe Montana was benched in his career
Donovan Mcnabb was benched in his career

So why can't Romo be benched if he is continue to perform at a low level?

Young was benched once the game was so out of control against Philly that there was no coming back.

Montana was benched in favor of Young, a HOF QB.

McNabb was benched because the team had just invested it's first pick in Kevin Kolb and wanted to see what they had. The fans also wanted him badly. I still think the reason Reid did it was to shut up the fans and prove that McNabb still gave them the best chance.

So untill we have an even remotely similar situation, lets hold off on the bench Romo posts.

Jon Kitna is an emergency backup. In the way way a spit wad is an emergency back up to a loaded gun when confronted by a rabid bear.

It's there, you could use it if you had tpo. But you would just die embarased and crunchy.

Nobody here is going to agree with anything that has to do with benching Romo.

Personally and I've been very clear on this. If romo has a bad stretch of games I say put his *** on the bench and put Kitna in there. Not to replace romo but to straighten Him out a little.

I dont think just ONe bad game would be a good idea to bench romo. it might shatter his selfesteem.

I'm not sure is people just dont watch other teams or they just kind of throw out crazy opinions for the hell of it. Kitna is not a good QB, ok granted it's been proven over his career.

But Kitna has played with some low bottom dirt picking teams...If romo is playing real bad, whos to say kitna goes out there and stinks it up too? Nobody knows this. This team is much better then anything He has ever had.

Well to be fair, if we are going to bench Romo if we lose a couple of games then we need to start benching other starters as well.

a. Ware has gone 2 games without a sack, after another 1 or 2 games he should get benched with Romo.

b. Newman has been getting beat like a dog and has zero interceptions on the season, looks like 1 more game of no picks and it is pine time for T-new.

c. Both safeties have been getting beat like a rented mule and have zero picks on the season, looks like it may be getting close to pine time for both of them.

d. Roy Williams has turned into freaking Casper because he is invisible on the field. I dont care what we gave up for him, he can go sit on the bench with Romo.

In fact, with the 30th ranked defense in the league, I am thinking most of our defensive starters should get benched for non-performance. Since Wade is calling the defense, maybe he should bench himself. Maybe he should strip himself of all defensive playcalling duties until he figures out what the hell is going on out there.

The moral of this story is that it is very rarely one single guy responsible for the team losing.

No... unless he is hurt or trying to play hurt, you have to stay with him.

Wade doesnt have Andy Reid's cojones. So it will never happen. Even though it should. If not for anything else - send a message to Romo.

It worked for Reid more than once. McNabb came out and played like gangbusters.

Kitna would have won that game Sunday. No, not because he is better. He would have not thrown all those INT's when he saw the game momentum was changing.

Kitna threw 20 picks his last full season as a starter. So who is to say he wouldnt havent thrown a couple of picks against the G-men regardless???

As a Lion. Who cares?

My point is that Romo needs to be slapped with reality. I believe that Kitna could have been reeled into whereas Romo couldnt, wouldnt... but should have been.

This is purely hypothetical, I have a hard time believing that Kitna could put up 30+ points on the Giants D. If he could do that, he would still be a starter in the league.

Jerry would have to be the one doing the benching as I doubt Wade would without the word from Jerry...and I don't see that happening in the near future.

You rise with Romo, you fall with Romo. If he stinks to the point that even Crazycowboy turns on him, then bench him.

Only way I would consider benching Romo is if we had a legitimate young Qb backing him up.

Kitna is not the answer.

We do have a delima on our hands though. :)

If I'm Romo, I bench Wade.

Kitna is the answer if the question is who is better him or Brad Johnson.

If Romo played 3 or 4 games of poor football in a row then yes other than that no Romo is the QB of this team
