At this point, with Michael Sam basically in free fall with regards to his original draft stock of a 3rd-5th rounder, do you throw one of our 7ths at him if he's still there?

I don't know if he was ever considered in the third or fourth.

If Sam has no home at LB due to a lack of athletic ability, being a tweener, but if his best game is putting his hand in the dirt and rushing the QB, and since everyone says he has a great motor, if he's still there, should Cowboys take a flier on him in round 7?

Can he provide depth at DE in pass situations?
Can he play special teams?
Can the defensive player of the year in the SCC defy his own measurables and contribute to an NFL team?

If the answer to any of those questions is yes, I think the Cowboys should give him a shot. Plenty of players with heart have proven the NFL GMs wrong, and player of the year in the conference that defines defense has to stand for something.....doesn't it?

The guy looked like he wasn't even trying during the combine. If you're that lazy during the combine, why should anyone take a chance on you. Nobody's obligated to draft anyone. Manziel was drafted later than though because teams weren't obligated to draft him.

I would....some players defy the measurables. Clearly, he could have played on any team in the SCC since he was defensive player of the league. That's good enough for me.

I think his ceiling is Greg Ellis at best. 6-8 sacks a year, nothing spectacular, but won't be a liability.

I don't see why you wouldn't draft the SEC Defensive Player of the Year in the 7th round when you had the worst defense in franchise history the year before. Even if the guy can be a situational pass rusher, that's better than nothing. I'd definitely take him.

I would too. The combine was the biggest distraction for him after having come out in the weeks leading up to it. His focus could have been better and I think the media circus affected it. I'd definitely throw a 7 at him having watched him ball against my Gamecocks.

Same here, if you get him in one of those very late comp 7th rounders you have a guy Marinelli can turn into something.
