Two of my favorite players just went off the board in Janis and Henderson.

Why not? What's the downside here?

To you really want the distraction in Dallas? Posters used it for an excuse with Manziel. Once drafted, the media would start a mess if the team went to cut him. There is no good way to cut the guy without a media explosion.

From a ESPN talking head..........teams need to draft numbers, measurables...............now they shouldn't?---he is a tweener in every way
***
for 3 days every critic of a Dallas pick harps on the numbers, the measurable............now all of a sudden we shouldn't?

SEC Defensive Player of the Year. His play on the field means more to me than his measurables, I would definitely use a 7th on him.

and Tim Tebow won the Heisman trophy. Winning an award in college doesn't mean all that much.

Give me a break. If and when he gets cut, it will be one news cycle and nothing more.

Schefter is basically echoing the concerns of many that it could be a distraction. Every move the Rams make with this guy will be over analyzed now. I think he has upside and wouldn't have minded to see Dallas take a chance on him but it does come with risks that no other player has.

I have nothing against Sam at all and I wish him well. And I am sympathetic to people who are gay and suffer discrimination because of it. With that said I personally like my sports to be kept separate from political/social issues as much as possible.

The NFL does not ban gay players and I agree with that. But I also wouldn't want ALL the Cowboys camp talk to be about Sam and put every single teammate in the spotlight demanding what their personal views are. And media pressure not to cut the guy if he isn't good enough, etc.

This day was coming so we might as well be ready for it. Sam should get his fair shot with the team that chose him and for me that is the end of it.

The drafting of the first openly gay NFL player is not a reason for anybody to take a vacation from the board guidelines regarding sensitivity. Nor is the fact that we're deleting posts with ugly sentiments for the time being a guarantee that we won't be handling such submissions differently after we've taken the time to review the threads. Please be advised, and understand that we really want you all to be able to enjoy the draft and your posting privileges today, too. Thanks.

Sure, the guy had a slow combine, but he proved himself on the field in the SEC. So I think he definitely deserved to be drafted, and maybe even higher than the 7th. The 7th is a time to take a gamble on guys. You can't argue his college production. I would've loved to have him as a situational pass rusher. St. Louis is gonna be nasty. Man, they have so many pass rushers it's unfair.

The Rams had a VERY good draft. Better than ours, that's for certain.
