That is really what this entire off-season comes down to. Do you trust Bill? If you do, why all the worry?

If you trust Bill, let the team do what it's going to do. Let FA run it's course and let the team draft.

Seems to me that the team is light years ahead of where it was when he took over. While I personally haven't agreed with every move they have made, I definitely think they are on the verge of being a solid contender. And I now trust in Bill. Whatever moves they are making, or not making, I trust that Bill is doing the right thing. If TO signs (I'm not sold on it) Bill must think it can work, for whatever the reasons. Bill must think Koyser and Ayodole are worth it. So i'm in Bill's corner. I trust he has the teams best interests at heart, for this season and the future.

Do you trust Bill???????

I trust Bill will make decisions based on how much time he has left.

That doesn't mean the decisions will be the best for the franchise.

So yep, If Parcells thinks he can handle Owens, there is NO doubt in my mind, he can.

Problem is, what happens next season when Parcells is gone?

That is my problem with him...and that's been my problem with him from day one.

He's making decisions that are based on his life expectancy as head coach, and Jerry (who has always been impatient and capable of amazing self deception about how close his team is to winning the big one, example: the Joey Galloway trade) doesn't seem to be tempering him

The Owens situation is the best example of this.

My gripe about the QB situation isn't Henson or Romo vs Vinny and Drew...it's about Parcells unwillingness to develop a young QB, regardless of who he is...BECAUSE he's at the end of his career.

Like Jimmy said, if Owens was the missing piece...AND you weren't going to be coaching the team for the next five years, then sign him. Problem is, Owens isn't the missing link.

So, do I trust Parcells? Yep.

But I understand that the trust I have in him is within a frame work of a coach who is making decisions at the end of his career with an owner who cons himself into thinking, as he always has, we are thiiiiiis close to winning another superbowl.

I trust as far as I can throw him...lol

BP said it best himself, you are what you are.

BP is famous for leaving contracts early, so I'm guessing that this is his last year. Hence the WIN NOW attitude (which includes signing TO). So however we end up and the end of this year will be his statement.

Ask me again in 2007, will we be better than the end of 2002 when he came here and in better cap shape, probably...which is cool.

What did you trust BP would do ? Win a superbowl or just rebuild the team ? Well, he has rebiult the team, still holes to plug. I would have liked to get younger at some positions but you can't have everything.

they were more verbose than me, but nailed it just the same. bill is doing this for bill. not the team, not the franchise, and certainly not the fans. when he leaves it will be time to FINALLY rebuild and the only benefit is we have a stronger base *if* it all pans out like it's started.

Would you rather us go back to the way we were BEFORE he came?

I know it's all about 'what have you done for me lately' but, people seem to forget we were pretty much at the bottom of the league for a while. At least now we have some hope and we feel that we should be contenders.

That's big.

He's getting paid the big bucks - let him do his job.

which way before he came? jimmy? tom landry? those winning ways when those coaches would have told TO to go F himself?

in a heartbeat dude.

i'll never understand why people think ONLY bp can make us win and i'll never understand why the pro-TO crowd feels it's a guarantee.

like i've said, we've won before TO and we'll win after TO but i just don't feel we're gonna win with him OR the path billp has us on.

Excellent point ice.

Everybody compares Parcells work to ten years of coach, GM, and owner Jerry Jones and says look what he's done. Well, you could throw darts at the draft board and improve the team that was.
However, after three years of high drafts, unlimited FA funds, and free reign, I would expect better that the offense we have now. The fact that we're still searching for starting LB after three years is also a joke. I believe some of our asst. coaches would have a difficult time with pop warner.

Gameplanning – I think he is the best, so I trust him.
Defensive personnel – Except on the DL, I trust him.
Offensive personnel – RB TE - yes, everything else – no.
Coaching staff – no
Player development – no
Getting a team to take football seriously – yes he is the best
Getting a team to play with emotion - no

He is so good at some things that he can cover his deficiencies enough to be pretty good. But in Dallas his coaching staff, player development, and personnel deficiencies haven’t been adequately bolstered. I don’t see how they can be now that he is viewed widely as a short term coach. Thus the “swinging from the seats” attempt at TO becomes another way of covering for these deficiencies. IMO.

This board rocks. It's great to be able to discuss the team that you love with people that share the same passion that you have for them.

I agree that BP is in this for himself, but I also think he came here to turn the frahchise around. And I believe he's done that, and I think when this off-season is over, the fans will be pleased with the results.

The defense is on the verge of being an elite unit. And I believe that after this offseason, they will be.

The offense, before Flo got hurt, was top 5 and scoring 28 a game. With Flo back, the possible addition of TO, and an upgraded OL in general (Koyser and others), this offense could be very very good.

I do agree that BP's unwillingness to develop a QB is a problem. But noone really knows what will happen with Romo/Henson.

But if the OL situation can be straightened out, couldn't Bledsoe play another 5 years?

5 years of Bledsoe, Julius, TO, Witten, Crayton, Barber with a good OL and a top 5 defense. I don't know that that is such a bad prospect.

Time will tell

Hey...

I'd take the Tom Landry OR Jimmy Johnson days as well.

I'm talking about from 1996 on. Barry Switzer was lucky. He inherited a team that was built by Jimmy and should have won a couple of more SB's.

How about Chan Gailey (puhleese)?
How about Dave Campo (c'mon)?

For the last 10 years we sucked. The NFC east sucked.

At least now we get a little respect....

oh yea, behind all that laughter from the rest of the league - you know, the very same laughter we were a part of 2 years ago when philly signed him and we predicted doom - they respect the hell out of a sellout.

there's a reason such athletes like elway said NO when denver thought about it. there's a reason so many "players" hate TO and it's not because of his talents. most athletes are aware of how hard this can be and usually respect the gifted in their field - except when the "gifted" spits in their face with it.

if we've signed TO, rest assured "respect" does not come with it.

i'd rather take my chances on finding another jimmy johnson that hoping a TO will turn around simply because he's on our team now.

that's how i want to win.

If TO signs he signs, I'm a fan I have no control over it one way or the other. I don't have to be happy about it and I won't be unless or until TO can prove that he has changed his ways I just hope it is not a disaster in the end. This team has had too many problems over the years and it has taken a long time to get this teams reputation back in order to watch 1 idiot come in and mess it up would be ashamed.

I hope it isn't a disaster either, but it seems to be inevitable. I personally would rather resign Key and trade for Walker and draft a WR in 2nd round. But it's not up to the fans.
