I don't think the money is the issue it is what we have to give up to get him. I don't think the Cards will settle for less than 2 1st rd picks and it is not worth the price. If Dallas needs a vet as a stop gap then look to the waiver wire as cuts begin around the league and look to FA or the draft next year but I don't think WR is that big of a dilemma on this team to panic and give up 1st rd picks

Same old way of thinking.
The waiver wire you provide any and all with castoffs, the lame, the old.
I don't think the waiver wire can give us an upgrade over Hurd, Stanback and Miles. Heck, I'd even keep that rookier Amendola than go looking at that wire.

Any estimate on how much Bolt is going to make on the world track circuit?

No idea here. Once you get into endorsement deals the money could be huge. His performance this week has to be considered the greatest track and field achievement in history. I was joking about him being a receiver...there is no way he would risk injury by trying that.

What an Olympics! Michael Phelps in the water and Usain Bolt on the track. Unbelieveable.

That would depend on who that WR is. There will be players caught in the numbers game and with a salary that will make it hard for their current team to keep them and I think if Dallas is looking for a stop gap until we can address WR that is an option. As for Amendola he is an UDFA who has really not shown anything I hope he has a chance to make the PS but beyond that I just don't see him as ready to help this team.

I agree re Rudy Amendola, what a hype.

But if you really think about it, any WR that was really that good his team would look for ways to keep him. Or keep him off the waiver wire and instead trade him for value.

Meh, waiver wire is good for one thing. Stop-gaps to replace third-stringers.

Yes, I know he has no football experience. His hands may be stone. Maybe he can't cut. But then again...maybe he can! Plus, can you imagina a 5'10 corner covering 6'5 Bolt? Talk about matchup problems... He is so athletic, I'm sure his jumping ability is phenomenal.

They said on ESPN's Mike and Mike in the morning today, that if you took his world record 100 meter dash time of 9.69 (which he didn't run as hard as he could!) and converted it to a 40 yard dash time, his 40 time would be 3.53! They said the faster player in the NFL runs a 4.24. Wow, what a difference.

I'm not denyin that the guy is crazy fast, but that conversion isn't quite accurate, since it is based on the average speed over the 100 meters rather than the speed of the first 40 meters, which would be slower cuz you start at zero and accelerate up to maximum.
I don't think that the Bolt thing is a serious consideration for the Cowboys, but it is interesting to see how his speed compares to, say, Scandrick or Newman. Actually, at www.sportscientist.com, they looked at this, and his fastest 40 yards were under 3 seconds (supposedly sprinters hit their maximum velocity at about 65 meters)... but his first 40 yards were about 4.38/4.39--not too far from Newman and Jenkins. If the combine 40 times are based off of the first movement (I don't know if that is the case or not), instead of the sound of the gun, then you could take off .1-.2 secs for reaction time and his 40 time would be closer to the Bo Jackson/Chris Johnson/Deion Sanders area of the spectrum--still amazing since he is 6'5." Wow.

Boldin all the way.

Horn is garbage.

If you could teach Bolt to catch the ball, just send him deep every time. Nobody catches that dude. lol

Yeah, I agree with you regarding the start slowing the time down somewhat, but 3.53 is the number they gave on Mike and Mike. Of course yards are shorter than meters, which may be why they gave him such a quick time.

All I know is that Bolt makes the best sprinters in the world look like also-rans. Those sprinters in turn would make the fastest players in the NFL look like also-rans. Scary.

Heck, maybe someone could teach him to carry a football and put him on kick/punt returns.

For some reason I think he would end up getting killed with that speed and an oncoming safety hauling ....

Yeah, I looked at it and they definitely used his average speed. The 3.53 number is what you get when you convert the meters to yards to get a ratio of the distances and divide his time by that ratio. Of course the first 40 yards are gonna be the 40 slowest yards of the whole thing because of the start and because you don't even reach full speed in 40 yards (ok, couch potatoes like me do, but apparently sprinters don't).
But anyway, yeah, I'm with you--that kind of separation against top-flight sprinters? What would he look like with a Boyz jersey?

That would be hard to trade from 32 to top five.:laugh2:

...but I would love to see him on this team,
