Doctor says McNabb will be "In" the Rest of the Season

I've had this injury and can honestly say you can play with it but things like throwing across your body and quick sprints will hurt the most. Taking a hit in the ab area won't hurt as much as the other two. I don't think taking a shot for pain will really help with this on game days because the amount needed would probabaly make him loopy....

If thats true then you would have to think that other teams will realize this and it would be easier to game plan mcnabb, especially if his accuracy is off throwing across his body. If that is the case i would bring pressure from one side and force him to move to the left or right then roll coverage that way betting he is not gonna complete a pass to the otehr side of the field. At any rate, you have to wonder if an injured mcnabb will be better than a healthy detmer.

Im a sport fan and when Roy horse tackled TO and broke his ankle, I wished he would have ripped it off and ran around the field with it in his mouth like a rabid dog. Then, after he was tired of running, come back over to TO and beat him in the head with his own foot.

But Im sick like that.

:lmao2: it doesnt get much funnier than that.

...or, if he plays that well with a sports hernia, just thnk how he'll play when he's healthy again.

Ha hAhA......McNabbs best days have past him by, this is s HUGE setback for the Philthys, WR Terreible Oder will errupt any day now and spew his malcontentment all over the entire Organization.

I have said all season as soon as the E-girls face any adversity it's over, especially with T.O.

Philthy has been to 4 Championship games, one SuperBowl and lost them all, their players have burn-out, their fans have burn out and their Coaching staff is burned out. It will soon be over in Philthy, the writing is on the Wall.

PT...I have had a sports hernia before..McNabb is in trouble..mobility is gone and groin pain is constant..a very debilitating condition that requires surgery to repar. He will be a sitting duck..this injury is not a "toughness" injury and McNabb is in big trouble to be sure!!!

McNabb hopes to play through pain
Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA -- Donovan McNabb has an abdominal strain that will likely need surgery, but the Eagles' medical staff said the star quarterback can play if he can handle the pain.

Trainer Rick Burkholder said rest will not fix the problem. While McNabb will experience discomfort, Burkholder said McNabb does not have to be sidelined now for the sports hernia.

"We're hoping it's something we'll be able to manage," Burkholder said.

Philadelphia's Pro Bowl quarterback is expected to start Sunday against Kansas City.

McNabb was tested last week for the sports hernia, a tear in the abdominal area, but coach Andy Reid called the injury an abdominal strain after the Eagles' win over Oakland.

McNabb went to Boston on Tuesday for another opinion and it was confirmed he has a sports hernia. McNabb is willing to play through the pain.

"I'm ready to go," McNabb said Wednesday. "I don't have any concerns right now. It's just something you have to deal with and realize some days you'll feel great and some days you won't."

McNabb hoped to delay surgery.

"If I can avoid it, I definitely will avoid it," McNabb said. "If that's the case that I have to have it, then it will happen."

McNabb didn't know when he first hurt the area. He came into training camp with soreness in his abdomen. He seemed to be fine until the second game against San Francisco, when the injury was aggravated.

McNabb also is playing with soreness in his chest and a shin contusion.

The injury hasn't affected McNabb's performance too much. Against the 49ers, he matched his career best with five TD passes and threw for 342 yards while playing three quarters.

Against the Raiders, McNabb finished with 365 yards passing and two touchdowns while throwing a career-high 52 passes.

Reid said he would be smart with how he handles McNabb.

"If it ends up where he can't function, then we'll shut him down," Reid said.

Also, Reid said kicker David Akers will miss the game against the Chiefs because of a torn hamstring.

Akers originally strained his hamstring during two weeks ago against San Francisco and went down again after redoing the opening kickoff against the Raiders. He returned to make two extra points and the winning field goal in the second half.

Reid said he would be smart with how he handles McNabb (just like with Akers).

"If it ends up where he can't function, then we'll shut him down," (i.e. if they have to take him off the field on a stretcher) Reid said.

Some of you are coming out of the woodwork with dooms-day concepts as they apply to McNabb's sports hernia injury. Obviously this situation will requiry some alternative methods and adjustment On the pro-bowler QB.

You say it's Not a "tough guy" issue!? So how has McNabb dealt with injuries and adjustments in the past ...

Hey, you would like things to be better. You would like quarterback Donovan McNabb to feel great after the best three-game start in his Eagles career. You would like him to answer questions other than ones about his variety of injuries -- from his chest to his abdominal injury (deemed a sports hernia for clarification's sake) to his shin contusion.

- he's thrown four touchdowns playing on a broken ankle (vs. Arizona, 2001)

- he's battled his way through a thumb injury early in the 2003 season

- he's been Knocked out by a rib cartilage injury in the playoffs later in the

2003 season

- and now the sport hernia

McNabb is a tough guy! Tough guys play quarterback in the NFL. He's taken a beating at the position and he gets right back in there and plays more. He stands in the pocket and he takes his shots -- so pain is something McNabb has accepted as part of his life. You'd better believe one thing ...the OL will have a little more juice in their protection for McNabb. McNabb and time spells touchdowns! Don't count us out -- that would be a mistake!

I haven't questioned his toughness..... Does anyone remember Jim Kelly for his toughness? No they remember him for he 4 SB losses.... McNabb is tough, I agree, but he hasn't hoisted the Lombardi...

This is not going to be a good year for him over the long haul. Still the Eagles have the most winning experience of anyone else in the NFC. The teams I thought would knock them off, Minnesota and Dallas, do not demonstrate the poise Philadelphia does. Still, it's a long season and sooner or later Dallas' secondary and Minnesota's entire team will find their chemistry.

All that said, Philly could have easily lost to Oakland in Philadelphia last Sunday, and Oakland didn't look all that special.

true, true.......

How many here are tired of Pheonix-Talon? Does it make your skin crawl to know he started a Mcnabb post on our site? Does it make your skin crawl to have him welcome other Eagle fans on our board? Something seems a bit wrong . He is a little holier -than -thou if you ask me. Comments are welcome......

Those who think these injuries to McNabb might make him a easier target. Maybe. But I saw the Raider game and he can still avoid the rush with no problems. He cant take off and run good but he can still move around good nuff to buy time and cause problems.

McNabb is a good QB and as tuff as any QB out there. I hope he gets better fast. I would love to beat the Eagles with a totally healthy McNabb cuz it would make the win much sweeter.

Injured or healthy McNabb can still hurt you.

Hes easier to catch and it sometimes effects his throws. Heck even Bledsoe can move around a bit.

One thing is that you no longer really have to worry about him tucking the ball and taking off like he does. That way your pass rush doesnt have to put quite as much focus on containing him and just try to get to him. Ware for example should run him down easily now.
