Barry Sanders NEVER finished less than 2nd team All-Pro in his career and his worst season was 1,100 yards in a strike shortned 11 game season.

Emmitt was All-Pro from 1990-1995 and never was again.

Emmitt is top 5 RB of all time, but Barry is the GOAT.

Emmitt never finished with negative yards in a play-off game. If I have one play and need 80 yards, I'll take Barry. If I have a full game and want to win, I'll take Emmitt.

The league was known as the American Professional Football Association and simply changed it’s name to National Football League. Same league, different name. Thorpe was the first President of the league. 1920-21. And was a great athlete. That he played football made the game significant.

Which Sanders and which LT? I assume you mean Barry Sanders and Lawrence Taylor. Some people still call Ladanien Thomlison, LT. Barry is the third best RB so he's not even on my list.

Roger "the dodger" Staubach belongs on the Rock. I mean were you really out of any game in the 4th quarter with Roger at the helm? Did you just lose hope and turn off the tv with the Cowboys down back in his day? Didn't think so.

so let's take your Mount Rushmore and have one for every position that's the only way this works

I really like this idea. Mount Rushmore for every position. I think the NFL is too vast of a talent pool to limit it to 4 guys. I even think limiting it to 4 guys at each position is hard to do.

Also accounting to different eras makes it tricky. Irvin and Rice dominated when the DBs were not as limited as far as the rules go. Aikman, Montana, Young, Bradshaw, dominated when the rules didn’t protect the QBs as much.

This is a fun topic to debate as long as no one gets their feelings hurt.

I wish I could invent some kind of Matrix-esque machine and put Aikman, Montana, Moon, Kelly and that era of dominate QBs in this era’s game. Likewise I wish I could take Allen, Mahomes, Brady, Watson, Dak, Herbert and put them in a simulation of the game that didn’t protect the QBs.

Lol, if I had a Matrix-esque simulation machine that I could use I probably would get around to this later but first I would enter into the simulation and have some fun.
