Does anyone else feel that this team has absolute no clue what it is doing?

I mean to think that many of us, my self included, felt that we were so close to the ultimate accomplishment coming into this season and then for the season to go the way it did. Now with all these reports coming out, many of which we have heard before, it just seems to me that we are so far away from where we thought we were. we are not who we thought we were...lol..had to throw that in there..but boy, it sure is depressing..I hope im not alone on this one, even though I doubt that I am. It's just so crazy to me, that this team is in such shambles. How hard is it going to be to get these pieces in order?

Having wealth does not make you a better person and the ability to make money does not mean you are smart. I'm not insinuating that Jerry is either a bad person or an idiot but that his wealth does not qualify him to run the Cowboys.

It all starts with Jerry Jones. :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

Norm took a call this morning that sounded like it came from someone who reads the zone.

He told norm that jerry is a bad gm but a good owner, Norm disagreed. He said the problem wasnt the general manager but the owner. He went into a big winded assertion that jerry wants to so badly but He has no idea how to do it and that is why we end up with all these names and big free agent players.

Its pretty clear what the problem is in Dallas. Its just that one mans ego will never admit to failure while its happening. Jerry has no problem admitting his failure from the 2000 season when he is talking to the media during the 07 season, but when times are tough he never takes any blame.

We have a number of people like that in the organization. JOnes, phillips, owens... Give me all the love for the good and dont you dare talk to me about the bad.

the fact that this has been allowed to happen is absolutely beyond amazing.

Its so frustrating having to sit through this a second time.

the first time jerry had excuses about the cap, old players and injuries.

This time he has everything you can need and he poisoned it with his own stupidity. Its tragically sad.

When the solution to a problem HAS to be within a set of parameters that YOU have dictated in advance, and the parameters ARE the problem, then you are doomed.

That is:

*The only solution Jerry will ever accept is a solution that HAS to have HIM in the center of the picture. He cannot simply OWN his team and ENJOY the success of his team... nor can he even INDIRECTLY contribute to its success... the set of parameters within which the solution must be reached is one in which HE MUST BE A FOOTBALL MAN. So, ever since Jimmy Johnson, if the team is to do well it will have to do well with Jerry BEING SEEN as a football man.

*The problem, of course, is that Jerry IS the problem. He is NOT a football man. He does not understand what makes for a perpetually successful NFL team. If he did he would agree with people like Troy Aikman who say that CHEMISTRY matters. If he did he would agree with people all over the NFL who say that THE COACH HAS TO BE IN CHARGE. If he did he would understand that hard training is more important than hard knocks. But he doesn't agree. And the reason why he doesn't agree is because it REPRESENTS A SOLUTION THAT DOESN'T FIT WITHIN THE SET OF PARAMETERS HE HAS DICTATED.

*So, if you have ideas that will work with Jerry being fully in charge down to the socks and jocks, fire away, but if your idea of a solution marginalizes HIM then you are wasting your breath, he won't buy it.

But what if the only way to fix it won't fit into his dictated set of requirements?

Then the Arizona Cardinals win playoff games and go to the Super Bowl before the Dallas Cowboys do. And we keep looking for NEXT YEAR'S SOLUTION all over again.

great post
many of the posters on this board are pretending to be "shocked" at what is coming out of VR and what is being reported about the state of the cowboys. Some of us have been saying for a while that cupcake coaches, lack of discipline, leadership, and accountability on this team are leading us in the wrong direction. and it all starts and ends with JJ.

Had I been on a deserted island for a year, and had no idea what had gone on. By the sounds of your constant whining, you're sounding like we went 4-12 this year and didn't have any injuries.

Felix Jones, Tony Romo, Terence Newman, Marion Barber, Kyle Kosier, and Matt McBriar stay relatively healthy and I think we're singing an entirely different tune.

Didn't hear you complaining much when we were 3-0 and looking like world beaters, then the injury bug finally gets us after 4 years of luck and suddenly its Jerry's fault again.

I have had the same complaints about this team for two years now. sorry to disappoint you.

We had injury issues, but everyone does. And there were problems on this team before romo and barber were injured.

I have been pretty consistent about my feelings for jerry, the head coach and the three stooges in owens, jones and johnson. Not one of them should have ever been here.

We run speed option on third and short and have an oil baron as a GM who hires a highly inexperienced QB coach to run an offense before bothering to find a headcoach. Its pretty obvious.

It is sickening. He did have excuses the first time, but his incompetency and ego is what expedited it. Now, he has no excuse - it's all him. But he still won't do anything about it except pay empty lip service to some type of hollow "change".

Ya'll two should get a room.

Jerry didn't bobble that snap in Seattle. Jerry didn't give up a 1st down in Seattle when we could've got the ball back.

Jerry didn't play a soft zone against the Giants and let them stroll down the field and ruin our 13-3 season.

Jerry didn't hit Deshea Townsend in the numbers, and didn't give up two long runs to the Ravens, and he didn't miss his assignment in overtime against the Cardinals.

***** and moan about the culture all you want, the culture in the 90s was hypocrisy. Jimmy would cut you if you didn't get it done, bull****. Jimmy exploited guys that he could, and treated his better players fairly. We had a much more divided locker room over faith, race, drugs, lifestyle, etc - but we still got it done with Jerry constantly in the mix.

Even at 3-0, there were some signs for concern. The Philly game saw little to no defense until the 4th, and the Green Bay game saw the secondary give up nearly 300 yards passing and the offense needed two long scores (red zone was a lousy 1/5).

Euphoria was the soup du jour, but the soup spoiled down the road. :)

A number of teams had injuries this year, but some of the better ones didn't swerve all over the road the way Dallas did.

People had very high expectation and when those expectation were not achieved this is the fallout you can expect. I do think some of the finger pointing by fans goes overboard but they clearly have a right to be upset.

Yes. I feel that way. It starts with Jerry and works its way down. Jerry is the leader of the loudmouth blabber bunch. If he could shut the hell up to the media and lead by example perhaps that would filter down...

Then you have laissez faire Wade Phillips.. Don't get me started on him. He wouldn't know attention to detail if it was stuck to his chin. Then, in the midst of it all, you have Martz Jr who is trying to "develop" and find himself... Fine example for our players to follow... It's a shambles and the lion's share of blame falls upon management.

In reality, we'd be in a hell of a better position if we were 4-14. At least at 4-12 we'd be drafting in a lot better place (even with all those picks gone to Detroit) than at 9-7.

What does 9-7 get you?
It keeps you out of the playoffss. It keeps you mediocre and with worse draft positioning.

So excuse us whiners for whining, but man, a competent coaching staff could have won at least two more games and kept us respectable, if in the league of winners.
