Does anyone even care about the NBA lockout?

Trust me Marc Cuban is gonna do everything he can to bring him back. Everything. If they do lose him they're just gonna have to try find someone else in free agency or via trade.
I thought I read somewhere that Chandler said these new proposals wouldmake it impossible for him to resign with Dallas

Pretty selfish that he wouldn't take less money to play for a winner.

Yeah if he's not willing to take a pay cut.

Not really. I'm a casual NBA fan...too many games for me. I prefer college.

Jerry smashed his fists together and it caused Billy Hunter to motion the players for the lawsuit.

I got a kick out of Kessler's assertion that since both lead attorney's are on the the NBAPA's side of the case, then the lockout HAS to be illegal.

What, you think we're that stupid to believe you wouldn't represent the side of the case that hired you???:lmao2: Come on, man!

Great article by Wilbon on it.

I'm getting of the whole "games are cancelled through such-and-such a date" farce. If there is a season, there is going to be a completely brand new schedule, so stop insulting my intelligence by saying specific games are being cancelled.

So long as there's no agreement, we know there won't be any games in the next 30 days. Beyond that, the current schedule is compeltely worthless.

Just heard some news on it and it occurred to me that there's been very little talk about it on this board. Does anyone even care?

I do. I love great professional team basketball a la the Mavericks. I really wanted to see Dirk and Tyson and Jason contend for one more together with possibly a new face or two. I think it's a travesty that they're going to lose a season and I'm terribly disappointed in the miserable arrogance of the owners and the lack of leadership in the players. I don't think Billy Hunter is doing them any favors. I wish the owners that are against the 50-50 split would just get the hell out of basketball and spend their money on lousy factories and farms and the like. Leave owning a team to people who care about the sport more than their own ego gratification.

Hummm I for one think the NBA players are overpaid with their GUARANTEED CONTRACTS...especially for a league thats losing money.

I have no sympathy for the NBA players like I have for the NFL ones...

I don't know, Rogah.
The last time the cancelled games...they cancelled games...period. Or at least that's how I recall it.

Anyway, the current business model is terrible. The players really took it to the owners in the last contract.
The revenue split should be 50-50. Some teams would atill lose money under that situation, but too bad. Maybe they'll manage the business better.
The curretn 57 - 43 split to the players is just outrageous.

I phrased my post poorly, so I apologize for that. What I mean is that if they end up playing basketball this season, we will be seeing a whole new schedule. If they make a deal and decide to start playing games on December 25 for example, they aren't going to take the current schedule and just pick it up at that point. We're going to see an whole brand new schedule.

I don't know what the Mavs did, but I do know for a fact that the Boston Celtics didn't even bother printing and distributing tickets to their season ticketholders, unlike the NFL where most teams distributed their tickets as normal, even prior to the resolution of the lockout.

Interest in the NBA has declined over the last 10 years. It is not all that much above Hockey now. They blow a season and they will be just like Hockey; which has never recovered.

Well get ready, because you can take it to the bank that there won't be an NBA this year.

The players are continuing to screw themselves the longer they hold out on these deals. 10 owners didn't even want to propose the last deal because they felt they were still conceding too much.

Last year was the nba's best in a long time.

There will also probably be a season. The players just want a little more freedom in free agency(and respect). The players current stance is giving back $3B.

Sooner or later the leaders of the league, the buss's(lakers), the reindorfs(bulls), and the Cubans are going to speak up.

Heck, it took an unbelievable home run record chase (while MLB turned a blind eye to steroids while players blew out unheard of ligaments) to get interest back in baseball after their long work stoppage.

The deal with the NHL is a bit different though. They shackled themselves to the worst TV deal in the history of sports. A little known, somewhat available, cable only channel? Gary Betman screwed the pooch Vick-style with that one.

kinda stopped watching after Rick Barry left the game and Dr. J hung them up...watched a few games in the finals between magic and bird...outside of that I haven't seen anything....really not interested at all in basketball. It could never start again and I wouldn't miss it at all...same could be said about baseball and hockey
