Does anyone think giving Romo all the controls is the REAL problem

Romo's best season for the team was 2007, his first full year as a starter. That year he just ran the plays the coaches designed. He used his athleticism to make plays on the run.

Did Brett Favre ever do the 85 audibles before the play? Not that I can remember. He just ran the plays that were called and used his ability to carve teams apart.

Like Jerry said, last year Romo was drawing plays up in the dirt. HE'S the one who audibles out of runs, and never targets the tight ends.

Romo is a top 10 QB in talent, but to me, trying to turn him into Aikman or Manning as a cerebral QB is what's hurting us.

He's best when others think for him and he goes and creates off that.

To be honest it's crossed my mind once or twice.

I believe that and Callahan calling the plays have hit the double whammy.

Hopefully it gets worked out by 4pm Sunday.

Tony's a lot smarter than you give him credit for. He hasn't been that great this year, but I doubt he's the sole reason the offense has regressed.

I don't think Tony has all that much more control that the previous seasons. Now, he is allowed to choose between two called plays(run or a pass), big whoopie. Oh, but he is in on gameplans......he was before as well. Just because he gives more input, doesn't mean the coaches listen to him.

I would bet if Tony is allowed to call any play he wants at any given time, this offense would be a lot better. Yet, Tony and Callahan are only using the pathetic plays from a mundane offensive scheme.

Tony appears to have added pressure on him from Jerry and Garrett and it is affecting his game.

The offensive scheme is the problem.............................................

meh offense was bad last year too imo.

If I remember correctly, last year was about redzone efficiency. We would get down field and would stall out most of the time due to penalties or simply execution and it would result in a field goal.

Seems like its the opposite this year. Once we do get in the redzone we seem to be rather efficient.

Crayon said this offense needs an OC.. He said Romo isn't being put into a position to succeed cause it essentially sucks. He says the coaches are blaming Dez now for not knowing the offense, which is BS. He says Garrett is essentially a mediocre .500 coach.

true, it's strange how it flipped on us this year. now we can't move btw the 20s b/c of the horrid 3rd down offense. red zone we finally figured out dez isn't human.

Aikman had the authority to audible? That is news, maybe he had that power with Switzer, but not with Jimmy or Gailey. There is nothing wrong with Garrett's offense, we need to finally find the LG,RG, and RT, oh and a RB, and the players executing the plays.

The problem is not the control tony has but the people making that decision

Romo is not Peyton or Brees or Brady

Today, on a critical 3rd and 20, Sean Peyton called a run and kicked the field goal

Garrett did not even have the cojones to get romo off the field late in the 4th in a blow out

What this team lacks is discipline, accountability , an innovative and aggressive approach, and people willing to make tough decisions and own up to them instead of passing the buck, right from the GM and HC

Yea just when you fix one leak another one or two pop up. Incredibly frustrating as a fan watching this team.

How do these relate to each other ?

It may be an unpopular oppinion here but I think Romo has more than enough to succeed. There are a lot of QB's in this league with lesser talent at the wr position and TE position, and less time in the pocket than Tony has had this year.

The run game was going very well against the saints early on but it didnt help Romo passing at all.

I dont see a confident QB when i watch the cowboys offense. Everyone keeps making excuses for Romo saying he needs better talent around him but i see a team with more talent around the QB than a lot of teams.

The all 22 film seemed to show romo had time in the pocket and players were open but romo wasnt finding them. Playcalling that gives a QB a clean pocket and wide open targets is not bad playcalling.

I just dont have any faith that Romo is going to have any more success in this league than he already has had. I hope im wrong but i think its just going to be more of the same. Exciting things can happen on busted plays with Romo but week to week incosistencies will remain.
