Does anyone think Henson will be cut?

I know this is coming off as a stupid question, but after reading some of these articles, they come off as just because Henson is going to be third string, he is going to be cut. Now I will admit, I wanted Henson to win the backup job, but I'm man enough to admit that Romo has earned the backup spot and I hope he does well if he has to come in if Bledsoe gets hurt.

I also realized that this is Drew's second year in the league and I think it would be stupid to give up on him this soon. I think he deserve's another year, minimum to either win that #2 spot or maybe become the starter, depending on his progress. That being said, do you think he would be cut now or is this total media speculation gone wild?

Drew is not in danger of being cut any time soon. It is a luxury to have Bledsoe starting and Romo as the backup so that Henson can continue to learn. There is no rush at this point to throw Drew into the fire.

Drew will get every opportunity to win the starter's job next season.

Nope

Hasnt played well and Jerry Jones did express disappointment that he is not competing for the starting job during halftime.

But no way they let him go at this point.

He simply hasn't has enough PT to make that call IMO.

why would they cut him? who would they replace him with?

what purpose would giving up on him after only two training camps serve?

if we're going to cut Henson, maybe San Fran should cut Alex Smith...looks like he's gonna end up #3 on the depth chart there...maybe GB should just go ahead and give up on Aaron Rodgers, who's gonna be #3 there...maybe its time for Jax to give up on Byron Leftwich too...

This speculation that Henson will be cut is way overblown. Henson has gone through a transformation in his mechanics, this takes time to adjust. While I agree that Henson looks terrible in the pre-season, I believe that he will develop and eventually we will see progression. So there is no way that Henson will be cut, call me an optimist.

Didn't Parcells just repeat at his last press conference the 3 year rule, he learned from Landry? I would say with Jones' involvement and Henson's unique circumstances with the layoff, he will get even longer than the 3 years.

Henson isn't going anywhere unless he could be used as trade bait to get us a young, good QB that is a known quantity and I don't see that happening.

No.......The battle will continue through out the season and into next TC. Which is a good thing. We will be a better football team when all is said and done.

Let him run the scout team for the year and get a lot of snaps. There is simply no real reason they'd have to cut him.

I hope not and I do not htink so but he would certiainly be closer than Tony Romo who is cheaper and right now higher on the depth chart.

I do not see a reason to cut him at all. He has as much if not more potential than any 3rd QB in the NFL.

Romo has done nothing to indicate he can't be a 2nd QB. He did have a stupid throw in PS 2 but that was really his only horrid decision or throw. Overall he's looked th ebst and lead the team to the most points of all the Qbs. He isn't gonna start but shouldn't be considered a question mark either.

Ideally Henson and Romo will have a real tooth and nail fight next offeseason then the following offseason one will have emerged as a clear cut long term starter for this team.

i think the only time you cut someone is if you believe that there is no way that the guy can be a productive football player or if there is just other people on the team that are better and there is no room for him.

neither of these reasons applies to henson.

no way he gets cut.

Thanks to all who answered, i feel the same way. It just irritates me that the media acts like Henson is going to get released or something. I say Henson will continue to get better and we will see the dividends next year.

Jerry already said that that Henson has everything you look for in a QB and that they will be patient with him. They also cannot take the cap hit on his guaranteed 3.5 million dollar contract.

They already took a cap hit on Rogers' contract and that was quite a bit less than Henson's hit would be. Don't think they can do it if they wanted too.
