Does anyone think Julius is wearing silver and blue next year?

Julius has plenty of talent...we have all seen it. IMO, Parcells ruined him and he will change once a new coach is here along with an oline who can create space.

Barber is the better back for the offense, currently. It would be a huge mistake to get rid of JJ.

Honest question - If Parcells was here with Emmitt, would he have some of us brainwashed saying Emmitt is great in the 2nd half & at the goal line so if it is not broke don't fix it?

I am not saying MB III is even half the runner as Catch 22. I believe that MB III should be given a chance for a full game. We know what JJ can do. Let MB III have his turn!
If by some chance, some posters are right & MB III needs a "JJ" to wear down a defense by running straight and going down at first contact, I will be the first to say go back.

Now if JJ was running like his rookie year - it would be a different story.

What I find frustrating is that the defense is fresh initially, so JJ's job is the harder of the two. Barber comes in when defenses are worn and gets to look the hero.

I don't think any of the "MB3 is God" types factor that in at all.

Julius' splits per quarter.

1st Quarter - 4.6 ypc
2nd Quarter - 4.0 ypc
3rd Quarter - 4.6 ypc
4th Quarter - 3.1 ypc

He actually gets worse as the game goes on.

Oh Dear Lord.

So did Parcells ruin MB3?

Julius wasn't a great RB in college either, so I don't see how you could say he "ruined" Julius. Julius has never been a premiere back on any level. He was pretty much in college exactly what he has been in the pros ... a guy who will occasionally break the highlight run, but not someone who will consistantly move the chains or be among the top runners in the league. Call a spade a spade. He's a poor man's Napolean Kaufman.

People seem to forget that Julius Jones just became the first Cowboys Running Back to gain 1000 yards since Emmitt Smith in 2001.

I remember when people at this forum just asked for a 16 game season out of Julius. That's going to happen, guys.

It's the way we're using him. The more he gets the ball the more he gets the feel for the defense.

Parcells said himself that he had to get Julius to be more conservative with the football and it is freaking obvious.

I don't know why some of you refuse to admit to what we all knew last ****ing year.

Ok......statistical genius heres one for ya

77 yard run in the first qtr of the saints game inflates his first qtr stats and his lack of carries hurts him in the 4th qtr because he can't get comfortable. stop blindly using stats.

Complete and utter apologetic nonsense. He calls ample plays for Julius running outside on sweeps and pitches. Julius seems to enjoy running into his blocker's backs. If Julis has a gaping hole and no one touches him he's got a chance to go all the way. Other than that he has no vision, no instincts, no ability to slide off tacklers and no natural feel for the position.

MB3 is a better back. Everyone knows it. Julius is the starter in name only for the sake of division of labor. Since Julius has brick hands he can't contribute on nickel. Bench him in the base packages, and you might as well just make him inative.

Oh yeah, I'm sure if you throw out the good runs in certain situations and throw out all of his bad runs in certain situation, the stats do tend to balance out. They would for just about everyone.

Why trust stats when you can just listen to the opinions of people with the handle of J.Jones21 for objective analysis.

Marion Barber is a complete beast running downhill... He even started last year and played well against the Seahawks and Cardinals. Deion was giving lots of props to the dreaded Barber.

Julius just doesn't ever seem to get a break... He absolutely never gets past the last line of defense. Sheesh is it the OL, playcalling? What? Last week's long TD was lucky... Fridge Perry could have scored through that hole that Jones scored his 77 yard TD on.

What gives with JJo's lack of running?

You do know Julius has 1000 yards rushing, with 2 games left, don't you??

Personally, I think the way the Boys are handling the Jones/Barber platoon system is d*mn near PERFECT... don't know why any Cowboys fan would want to change the rotation-- if it ain't broke, and it ain't, don't fix it...

He's coming back because he has one year left and is serviceable. No contract extension.

If we are in a position to draft a good speed RB, he will be gone.

I don't understand why some are so defensive -- saying that because some want better than JJ, we are not focusing on the 'team'. 'If it ain't broken, don't fix it' is the mantra.

Its simple. We can do better for our speed, quick back.

Better than a back who's averaging over 80 yards per game throughout his NFL career??

Not without either spending a REAL high draft pick on a running back (when we have far more pressing needs), or getting REAL lucky...

Our running game is working just fine, there are other areas of the team that are in greater need of offseason attention...

Yep. I wouldn't go out of my way to trade up for a RB in the draft, but if we have one that falls into our lap who can upgrade over Julius "Servicable" Jones, then by all means.

I'm tired of Julius Jones running into the back of the o-line without finding the proper hole! I was at the game and I'm on my lap top at the hotel right now, Barber came in the game and showed how to run tough, I've been a Jones supporter for a long time but I think the Cowboys will draft a running back pretty soon.... The question is who's worth a pick?

i dont know what has been more annoying to me this season, Jones continuing to dive into a pile of defenders or when bledslow was the starter and he would make the "kill sign" on a play and then proceeded to actually getting killed... thats a tough one for me. i guess bledslows play because he cost us games but jones diving into piles defenders every other play when there is a open gap to the outside is very annoying.

Painful memory. :banghead:

I would have no problem with drafting a RB early.

I would, pal... now, I wouldn't mind spending a 2nd day pick on a back like Germaine Race, who has been completely dominant for tiny Pittsburg State (Kansas)... for that matter, I could live with a pick spent on little Garrett Wolfe from Northern Illinois, a Dave Meggett-type if I've ever seen one...

But the early picks should be spent on the following areas:

1) A quality pass rusher...

2) Quality DBs, especially a good FS...

3) Stud blockers...

4) Wide receiver, especially a WR with speed...

These are all significantly higher priorities, IMO, than replacing Julius Jones is...

Is there a link to the run Adam? I swore that the left side split open big time on that one.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKnj7XZ8II8

The run was designed to go up the middle, but it was clogged. Julius cut left, then cut upfield (there was an unblocked cornerback on the outside) and dusted the safety.

Edit: This is TEK2000's video. I'll be deleting it off Youtube within a day or two, before the gestapo finds it.
