Does anyone think Julius is wearing silver and blue next year?

Jones just isn't that good. Oh he'll give you that very occasional 77 yard run then disappear for a few games.

Barber is just the more complete and better back. Is this even a question anymore?

I have no problem with Jones being on the team and playing as a change of pace just like Barber was doing BUT Barber should be playing a lot more than Jones.

JJ was hit in the backfield on 3 of his runs. a holding penalty wiped out another good one- and who knows how much he would have gained but for that shoestring tackle. Barber is a power back with some moves; JJ is a speed back. BP is using them very well. I doubt he will change.

At this point we have 1600+ yards and 16 TDs between our two guys. We should finish the season with about 1900-2000 rushing yards and 20 TDs.

I don't think JJ is going anywhere.
JJ will be entering the final year of his contract and I cant see them re-signing him. If you could get a 2nd, 3rd or 4th rounder I would jump all over it. We are going to be picking in the lates 20's and guys like Maroney, Adai should be there. The draft is very weird for RB's, guys like Gore were taken in round 3. Im in full support for upgrading the RB spot, I would take another RB in a heartbeat

I agree with everything you said burma. Together, these guys make a great 1-2 punch. It is an interesting question whether JJ gets a good offer to stay with the Cowboys. My guess is he gets a good (not great) offer and stays. We'll see.

the thing about is this...if barber is better then our offense can take it to another level...barber makes yards where there are none...have you ever noticed that? we could be elite if he could do that all game...i dont know that parcells will want to screw that up...all i know is we started dominating when he was in there....when julius was in there we didnt...

On one of Barber's runs, Faulk stated "Anyone could have run through that hole...it was a blown assignment by someone on the Falcons." The statement illustrates that Barber did get some plays (and blocking) JJ didn't get. That being said, Barber seems to fit our OL better than JJ. We'll see what happens but I doubt Parcells makes any changes.

Julius just doesn't have the vision of the intensity that Barber has - when 24 comes in the game you know its time to drop the hammer on them, and I'm sure opposing defenses are starting to get scared when they see him come in the game late. I love how he is our Mariano Rivera hes unstoppable late, we really just need to get a better # 1 for this 1-2 punch.

Bingo !

I don't know about the intensity part, because Julius does plays hard and I've never seen him slack off, but unfortunately and more importantly, his vision and instincts are below average. He's a solid back that will play hard and will break runs once in a while, but he's not a featured back that teams will have to design game plans to stop him.

If the Cowboys get a chance to replace him this year's draft, let's say another Lawrence Maroney or Clinton Portis type back falls through the cracks, the Cowboys should take him and try to deal Julius. MB III doesn't have the speed that Julius has, but if he did, he'd be exactly what the Cowboys need in a featured back.

If Jones was "any good" the cowboys would be talking already of restructuring his deal for next year for the big money but we all know thats not gonna happen, I guess Julius never saw the potential in how big he could cash in if he just produced more, I dont think he will get what he wants, and i do think he will be traded or released..oh well, i had big hopes for him but thats the NFL

Remember when JuJo predicted he would get 1,700 yards that season?

I haven't been able to see the game yet. The area where I live (near Seattle) has had a power outage since Thursday night, so even though I have Tivo, DirecTV, Sunday Ticket and NFL Network, I couldn't watch or record the game. I probably won't get to see the game for a few more days.
My parents just got their power back on the Olympic peninsula. Good luck to you out there.

For those claiming that JJ does not have the moves, vision etc- how do you explain his rookie year then?

Keep JJ until we can trade him, a few other players and our 1st round draft pick
to get McFadden when he comes out. McFadden and Barber!

I like M. Turner out there in SD.... If he comes available then snatch him.
Then I think they try to trade JJ....or use him as a roll player.

the new trend is using a Full Back, again. A big brusing RB,
i.e the Bus or Brandon Jacobs could bring back a power running game

A fluke when teams knew we weren't that good so they didn't walk many men up in the box, and Julius just gashed them mostly during draw plays.

Marion Barber is a complete beast running downhill... He even started last year and played well against the Seahawks and Cardinals. Deion was giving lots of props to the dreaded Barber.

Julius just doesn't ever seem to get a break... He absolutely never gets past the last line of defense. Sheesh is it the OL, playcalling? What? Last week's long TD was lucky... Fridge Perry could have scored through that hole that Jones scored his 77 yard TD on.

What gives with JJo's lack of running?

Merge into the JJo Barber thread I'm seeing now mods?
:eek::

You know this is something I have been thinking about for weeks. I love me some MB3. As a matter of fact, I enjoy seeing him on the field more than I enjoy seeing JJ. Last week when JJ broke that long one I said to myself "He won't do it again". It's great to see JJ break a long run once in awhile but his long runs pale in comparison to his dink & dunk 2 yards here 3 yards there running style. JJ will almost surely fall when touched by the first guy. There's no real consistency in his game.

MB3 on the other hand will make something out of nothing. He falls forward pretty much every time. He punishes people for wanting to fix their minds to tackle him. His stiff arms are classic. The guy can flat out ball. He epitomizes the word consistent.

That all said, I still think they compliment each other. I still believe we throw defenses off with the one two punch. Just when you think you've stopped the shifty guy that's a threat to break it anytime the bruiser comes in and bowls you over. I think BP is doing a masterful job and keeping defenses off balance with the two of them. I also believe BP is saying the same thing to himself with regards to MB3. That guy can flat out ball. Can one do it without the other? I really hope we don't have to see. I would prefer to keep things as they are with MB3 continuing to play an larger role in the offense every week. I think JJ still provides the weight that offsets the running back scale and keeps everything even.
