Does anyone understand how ridiculously good Bailey is?

Dan Bailey has now made 102 of 112 field goal attempts. This is 91.07%. Vanderjagt is second at 86.47% and Phil Dawson is 10th at 84.67%. This means there is 2.0% difference between the nine players ranked 2nd through 10th but 4.6% points between Bailey and second place Vanderjagt. That is sick! Moreover, 20 of those field goals are over 50 yards and another 35 are over 40 yards. That is Wayne Gretzky kind of dominance!

This team owes a number of wins to him over the last couple of years. It's easy to take great kicking for granted, but those automatic 3's have been so clutch.

Now get to Jan and Feb. and bring that percentage to the final stanza of a game when it's make it or go home and allow No Miss Bailey to nail one from 59 yards for the NFC Championship game and perhaps the Big Enchilada and this place right here will know about Bailey, and go nuts to boot.

I know I appreciate him. This team had good or better kickers for a long time then not so much. There was a time when any kick esp over 30 yds was an adventure. Now when Bailey misses I remind myself that even Ben Hogan didn't hit them all dead solid perfect.

You know who also deserves a BUNCH of praise... LP Ladouceur. Dude has been flawless since we got him in 05! People overlook this position alot, but it is just so dang important! I just read a stat (on wikipedia) that says "In his career, he has made clean snaps on 639 punts, 275 field goals and 388 PATs, including the playoffs." That's pretty damn impressive. Add that to the fact that the guy has never missed a game! Kudos to you LP! And God I sure do love me some Beetle Bailey!

I want to NOT know how good Bailey is. I want to be thinking, "Eh. Anybody can kick an extra point."

Along similar lines, I want to be thinking, "Who the heck is Chris Jones?"

And undrafted. He was the best kicker in college. Scouts should be fired for that.

His consistency gives him a chance to stay at the top, since he's been hovering around 93 percent the past three years. (His 86.5 percent his first year is what drags him down.)

It will probably depend a lot on if he hangs around the league longer than his leg remains that effective.

Last week, he finally qualified as "the most accurate kicker in NFL history."

So, I would hope so.

Bailey is money. Bailey is a sure thing. Bailey makes Adam Vinatieri wish he were him.

* fist pump! *

For years, I was envious of the Eagles with Akers, Pats/Colts with Vinateri and the Lions with Hansen.

Feels so good to know fans of other teams now feel that way with the Cowboys and Bailey.
