Does anyone wish our schedule was stronger?

I was looking ahead, and other than NE, Green Bay, and maybe one or two of the divisional games, our schedule is easier than it has been in years.

I know things can change pretty quickly- Carolina could get better. Detroit might really be as good as their schedule dictates. Washington could show up. But all in all, there isn't an obvious loss anywhere on our schedule.

I personally would like to have seen the Colts or Steelers, something. I just don't want to go into the playoffs with only playing 2 good teams and a lot of fodder after that.

We've faded the past few Decembers.... our schedule is fine. WE have a lot of proving to do without worrying about how strong the schedule is..

hopefully it gives us a chance to work on the defense without it costing us a game and tweaking the offense so it scores in the first half of games

Actually what I wish is New England was not on it.

This worries me if, and I said if, we make the Super Bowl. I can not lie I think we have a real shot, and I think the Patriots will be in it.

I do not like giving Bill Belicheat a look at us, and a second go around.
I also think if we beat them in Dallas it will be very tough to beat them twice in one year.

Yes I am looking way ahead, but I can not help it.

Before the season started we all thought we had a tough opening few weeks. The Giants are always a tough divisional game, the Rams looked like a potential playoff team and the Bears were... the Bears.

Just goes to show you how things can change from week to week in the NFL. This isn't like college where you can have a soft schedule and skate to an undefeated record. Every week in the NFL a team can beat another if things fall their way.

This team will be tested, you really don't have to worry about that. When we get done with our 3 divisional games in a row, we're going to know a lot more.

Agree, Zax...

But overall, I'm not sure our schedule is going to turn out to be that weak. I still think the Skins and Giants might be pretty good in the end.

But of course, when you're a better team, most of the other teams don't look too strong. I bet the 2002 Cowboys would think this schedule was a bear. ;)

It is what it is. Going into the season Chicago looked like a true test and the Giants are also a team that has beaten us in recent times and was a playoff team. We still have games aginst the Pats and we have 5 games within our own division which tend to be tough contest.

It doesn't matter to me one way or the other. We have no control over how any team will play once the season starts.

I wish we were playing New England after a Sunday game instead of a Monday Night one. But I'm glad we're playing them at home.

This is my view on it. Playing an easier chedule to start off with allows us to 1) Let the defense get a chance to work out the bugs of working in a different scheme. 2) the offense to build continuity and chemistry, esp. along the OL, 3) get some of our injured players back healthy and, 4) build confidence throughout the team. This may not have been possible with stronger schedule to start off with.

Just talking about this with a buddy who is a Pat's fan. This is one of the most meaningless games on our schedule. Sure it's a chance to prove ourselves against a big dog but the fact is it is a non-conference game against a team that we may just possibly meet again this season. If I'm the coach I'm not showing them anything. Line up and run a basic offense and defense and if we win, great. If we lose they still have the target on their back and we keep sliding by under the radar.

I think before the year people would have thought SD, CHI, BALT.....Would all be tough games, and they will be on a given Sunday. However, in this aprity driven NFL other than beating Indy or NE what is a quality win? I still think Chicago in week 3 was. GB wouild be. Hey, ask Pittsburg how easy it is to go on the road and win a game. I say I will take any win and run with it.

Exactly right. Before the season started it looked like we had a fairly tough schedule but with the meltdown of several teams so far it is looking pretty easy. That could change very quickly though as we have seen in the past.

They will have 16 games of tape on you why in the world do you try to hold something back. There are 2 weeks to prepare for the superbowl. They will see everything you do, maybe not against them but they are not going to be more surprised because you held something back during the regular season game.

You play this game all out!!

Confidence is a huge thing, and there is no way I play vanilla so they won't have some clue for the next time we meet.

Playing some weaker teams early in the year can be a great way to gain momentum while tweaking and fine tuning things. It was probably especially helpful this year, with the change in coaching staff.

The NFL is all about wins, always has been and always will be. You win, you are rewarded in the end. A cheap win in the NFL is as valuable as a hard win.

When playoffs role around, you are judged soley on the amount of wins you have, not on the quality of the wins.

Now the NCAA, that's a different story.

Do I wish it was stronger? NO WAY.

It allows us to maybe win a game here and there that we may not win because this team still has to get itself together.

To quote Herm Edwards...."You play to win the game."

I'm not into the "prove yourself" thing. Our team's record is an attempt to win the division, get a first round bye and home field advantage through the playoffs. Every one of those things makes the Patriots game just as important as any other non-division game. I could care less what we "show" them about our team. We should deal with tomorrow....tomorrow.

Against the Patriots....play your best game and see what happens.
