Does Arlington own the Dallas Cowboys?

Hey I love the stadium and Jerry once again soars above the league as a owner. My question is when I hear Arlington getting upset whenver the NFL Analyst or media says any phrase like, "the Giants will have to go to Big D", "the road to the superbowl goes thru Dallas", "We're back in Dallas where the Cowboys lead the eagles 27-7". Why is Arlington so offended. Even the Arlington Mayor makes it a point to call the Networks and tell the analyst they need to correctly say Arlington not Dallas. Irving was not so bitter like this when Texas Stadium was King. I just think the Mayor of Arlington is going to far to control whats said on the Airways. When Dallas won those 3 Superbowls the parades were in Downtown Dallas. Will the parade be in Arlington when we win the Superbowl? Maybe its more I don't understand?

I can see their point of view they made a big commitment to the Cowboys to have them in Arlington while the City of Dallas did nothing. I think they want to make sure that people know the home of the Cowboys resides in the city of Arlington.

Nope, they are owned by the city of Schofield, Wisconsin.:

They might as well get over it. It's the Dallas Cowboys, not the Arlington Cowboys.

Is this even true? This is the first I've ever heard of this.

Arlington officials are nuts if they're really getting upset over this.

it is somewhat true, its a story from the first game of the year and the mayor
apparently made a call to network people about the announcers not saying Arlington.
i have noticed the announcers saying Arlington pretty regularly since then.

They did shell what 500 million or more? I find nothing wrong with the mayor wanting the networks to get it right when it comes to where the Cowboys play.

He is just calling to tell them, sooner or later they will get it right. As I said the city of Dallas did not put up 1 red cent to have the Cowboys play in the city of Dallas even though that was Jerry 1st choice was the city of Dallas.

Yes they are the Dallas Cowboys but if I shelled out that kind of money that came from the tax payers of Arlington then I should want to do right by them and make sure people at the network know where Cowboys Stadium is and where the Cowboys play.

No it is a city of itself and one that used tax payer dollars from the people in the city of Arlington not the people of Dallas

dallas may consider arlington a suburb, those of us who live there do not.
arlington is the 50th largest city in the US.

325 million I would do so as well. Part of why I would want to get this deal is to bring attention to my city if I'm not going to do that then why the hell did I use 325 million dollars of my cities money? :laugh2:

I mean not cause an arguement but based on what I see in the maps and my experiences here in the Balt./DC metro area its a 'burb of Dallas. Even here in Baltimore you have a large areas that have its own name on maps but if you look at the mailing addresses and such they all say Baltimore. Hell in Maryland York PA is considered a suburb of Baltimore and is 45 minutes north. When it comes to major cities I look for airports if you don't have one you are not a real city. Every major city has "neighborhoods" or "townships" or "boroughs" and really after looking at the map of Dallas/Ft. Worth Arlington looks to be a large township within the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Jerry chose Arlington because it has the Six Flags theme park...which little Danny owns. Just one more way to one up him. ;)

And yes, Arlington residents, I know it was because of the money, too. :)

As I said when it came to forking over the cash it was not Dallas doing it. Airport or no airport if they are footing the bill they should get some recognition for stepping up to the plate to help make this stadium happen.

The mayor problem evidently is not with Jerry and the Cowboys only the people who broadcast the games.

This happens from time to time. Ask a non-NFL person the following:

Where do the Carolina Panthers play?

Where do the Minnesota Vikings play?

It's like here where I live. It has always been Charlotte Motor Speedway. It's not in Charlotte. It's not even in the same county. It's in Concord, NC. Then they changed the name to Lowes Motor Speedway but now say, "Lowes Motor Speedway in Charlotte NC."

I do understand where the mayor is coming from but he can't expect to fix it forever. There will be a slip of the tongue more aften than not.

I agree, I just don't see anything wrong with him pointing it out. By and large most do acknowledge Cowboys Stadium in Arlington

If he really wants to make it OFFICIAL, they ought to fork over for the actual naming rights to the stadium and be guaranteed hearing ARLINGTON STADIUM all over the world. I am sure Jerry would be happy to comply.

Besides, they are getting vast amount of taxes from the stadium, hotels, restaurants, etc. so don't feel too sorry for the old mayor. It was an INVESTMENT, not charity.
