Even the Arlington Mayor makes it a point to call the Networks and tell the analyst they need to correctly say Arlington not Dallas.
Maybe the City of Arlington should pony up the millions of dollars Jerry wants for the naming right to the stadium.

If he really wants to make it OFFICIAL, they ought to fork over for the actual naming rights to the stadium and be guaranteed hearing ARLINGTON STADIUM all over the world. I am sure Jerry would be happy to comply.

Besides, they are getting vast amount of taxes from the stadium, hotels, restaurants, etc. so don't feel too sorry for the old mayor. It was an INVESTMENT, not charity.

I don't feel sorry for him I just understand where he is coming from. Yes the city of Arlington benefits from this as they should.

I can see their point of view they made a big commitment to the Cowboys to have them in Arlington while the City of Dallas did nothing. I think they want to make sure that people know the home of the Cowboys resides in the city of Arlington.

the only way they would have a point is if they were called the Irving Cowboys.

the precidence was set for what, 20+ years and he's surprised AFTER the fact they kept "Dallas" as their prefix?

silly government official.

I don't think he expect them to be called the Arlington Cowboys (at least publicly) I just think he wants to make sure his city gets the recognition they deserve and paid dearly for.

You can drive all over Dallas and you will not find that stadium there because it is in Arlington. It should be in Dallas but some silly government official did not step up to the plate.

We in Dallas consider y'all the "armpit" of the Metroplex. :p:

No, it's more like the crack between the right butt cheek (Dallas) and the left butt cheek (Fort Worth):)

it is somewhat true, its a story from the first game of the year and the mayor
apparently made a call to network people about the announcers not saying Arlington.
i have noticed the announcers saying Arlington pretty regularly since then.

if arlington paid for naming rights then i guess they deserve to be called that.

Thank *** jerry didn't sell the stadium name or else we could be playing in the AT&T arena instead of cowboys stadium for the taco cabana super bowl

20 plus years of history.if he's been watching cowboys home games he knows how much the city gets mentioned. if he's now surprised then i guess he's not a cowboys fan, didn't see the games, so i don't care about his opinion. : )

I'm still shocked they don't have a Public Transportation System.

Most of my family lives in Arlington and I just don't like how they have built up the Southeast portion of the city.

Oh and I would like to ask the Mayor when the heck they are going to be finished with all that construction on Division and 360, that place is chaotic.

My dad and stepmother used to live right next to Randal Mill Park in some condos in the mid to late 70's. That's a pretty cool area.

On a related note. Doc Medich and Al "Scoop" Oliver were neighbors of their's at one time or another.

You both may be right. But they have something that Dallas and Ft Worth doesn't. The Cowboys playing in their backyard. :p:

it actually wasnt a big deal, like i said it was from the first game when they kept saying the "palace in dallas "

and while dallas has an airport, the big airport in the area is actually not in dallas but one of the other suburbs ( not sure if its grapevine or not).
that airport is named DFW but is in neither.

i dont really care what they say on TV, i just like having it where i live.
after the first game, with record crowds i was home 30 minutes after i got to my car !

Technically, the cites of Dallas and FW own D/FW.

It's holdings are in the city limits of Coppell, Euless, Grapevine, and Irving.

Well, that is still a possibility. Jerry didn't get an offer of what he thought he should get for the naming rights. So, he said he would address it later when the market improved.
