Does Austin Deserve to Start *Merge*

Austin needs to start because he provides an obvious deep threat from the WR position that all other WRs on this team don't provide. Some opponrnts have had great success bringing the pass-rush against Dallas partly because Dallas does not have a deep-threat WR to hold the safeties back. With Austin on the filed they'll think twice about stacking the box.

Starting Austin can only be good for the offense, which is why I don't expect Garrett to start him. LOL

I was screamin' at the TV yesterday for them to let Choice in the game in the 2nd half. It was obvious to me that, while I love MBIII, Choice needed to get in that football game.

Ogletree was a lucky bounce away from being yesterday's goat.

Why do people seem to think that Ogletree is some sort of upgrade WR position? Do they seem to forget that there are things that he probably isnt good at yet like route adjustment, WR hot routes, run blocking, etc. The position is more than just run this route and get open.

I think Ogletree should be BOTH of the starting WRs. Austin should be the #3, Roy #4, and Hurd #5. :

I've said all along Austin should be starting opposite of Williams... I think Crayton is much better in the slot.

He would of had over 300 yards and 4 td's!!!

If Choice had started he would of had 200 yards rushing easily, if you have'nt seen it he has a 15 yard run at the end of the 3rd qtr the ignited the offense where he layed the wood on a safty instead of going out of bounds..

I don't think you can be more wrong about the snatches. His hands are excellent to great. Concentration and memory lapses on the other hand can use some work.

The reason I say you're wrong is because he never body catches anything and always snatches them with his hands. The play he extended one hand for was a catch he should've made if he wants to be great but it's not something I'll call a drop. But on some of those out routes, he showed great strength after catching the ball (with DBs not being able to knock it out of his hands). The jump ball catch was great where he just snatched a reception out of the hands of an interception. But his best catch of the game was actually an underrated 3rd down grab that got the offense going.

It was on the series where Choice scored out first TD of the game and we were facing a 3rd down from our own 30. Romo got pressure from a CB blitz and scrambled right. Miles read the blitz, so he stopped his route short, and then ran to an open spot in the middle of the field when he saw Romo scrambling. He jumped up and snatched a throw that was behind him with all HANDS. That was great, you should rewatch it. Mariucci had a coach em up about it on NFL gameday.

Well said.... He's got really good hands, I like Austin's ability to go get the ball!!!!!

If we want to when more games, he will be. We need speed so teams won't start putting 8 in the box. There is no chance we make the playoffs without making him a starter with Roy. Crayton can go back to his most effective position in the slot. Has anyone heard that this could happen?

I think Dallas definitely wants to win more games...

Poor tackling happens all the time. As Cowboy fans, we've seen our share of it as well lately.

Even if you take away the 2 long plays, Austin still has a huge day.

Look back over the times that Romo has thrown the ball to Austin the last few years. The TD against TB, the TDs last year against GB, the PIs he drew two years ago, Romo overthrowing him when he was wide open in the Giants playoff loss....He has done more with limited playing time than anyone on our offense, save perhaps Felix Jones.

The guy is a natural born football player. When Romo has thrown to him, generally good things have happened. They've got to get him on the field and leave him there.

Give him credit. A percentage of that can be due to his ability to break tackles on the move. The last catch, Leggett was on his back and he ducked under it...

I disagree here also. Those run after catches were also great break away's as much as poor tackling. On the first he snagged the ball beautifully as the defender dove for the break up.. Miles pulled away and darted creating a POOR ANGLE for the would be tackler.. a slight stiff arm and his speed did the job moreso than a missed tackle. Trust me. Someone else.. WOULD HAVE BEEN TACKLED. On the seccond.. very similar.. defender gambled.. because Miles used his hands.. he had time to break away.. from there it was a foot race..

Relax fellows, I said "I loved the day he had", and "it is obvious that we have to get him the ball more".

I wasn't taking anything away from MA, why would I do that on a franchise record setting day?

Mostly what I meant was those two long TD plays weren't designed to go 60 yds.

He got away from the tackler, and nobody is going to catch him after that happens.
A lot of plays like that are stopped soon after the catch is made, and yet they are still successful plays.

Austin had a great day, no complaints here.

I think Austin's performance yesterday would justify a a spot opposite Williams in the starting O for two reasons:

1). It matches a player with the big play dynamics with a steady chain mover on the opposite side.

2.) It puts Crayton back in the role that he's always been more effective at (a slot WR).

To me this is a no brainer...Austin starts and Crayton moves back to the slot, if not the fourth reciever, because frankly I can't stand watching his casual, soft playing *** on the field any longer.

Something tells me though, that our genius of a head coach will trot him out there starting opposite the other chronic under-acheiver against the Falcons.

Miles Needs to start over Crayton. I mean Crayton has done nothing. Miles had about as many catches as Crayton in one game than him a whole season. Miles put up amazing numbers(10 Catches for 250 Yards and 2TDs).His First start ever.

Miles Austin still looks raw to me Gentlemen, and Ladies. Maybe he can make a career but consistency has always been his main hurdle.

I believe Miles earned atleast a shot at starting opposite RW this weekend. Breaking that record and looking as dynamic as he did should bode well for him.

Yo what up Brett? Dude here, err ahem. Retired from being the dude that is. Yeah he needed more reps since 2 years ago but it's always been a durability issue with this guy. I also believe it's mental, he's not the sharpest tack in the bunch, however if he doesn't get the reps he won't improve. I hope he starts from here on out because he has that quickness we've been missing.
