Of course it does and the draft is one of the main reasons why. Take you back to the Taco vs Watt pick. Jason Garrett and Rod Marineli are coaches who run set schemes and do NOT adapt or tweak their schemes to incorporate players. Players such as Watt was a tweener and with JG and Roddle and his poor evaluation and not being able to incorporate players into his scheme or adapt/tweak the scheme is why we lost out on TJ Watt.
Mike McCarthy obviously has more and wants more flexablilty in his defense hence the reason we wouldve take Klavon Chassion if Lamb wasnt there. Bill Belichek never passed up a good-great football player because of his scheme. 100% guarantee if we had McCarthy back in 2017 Watt would be a Cowboy, book it. I know I should be over it by now but Im not, one of the most disappointing drafts at the time and still now because it really hurt this team to not have a 10 sack a year BALLER and instead have to keep bandaging that position. Sooooooooooooo Happy that the cancers of JG and Roddle are finally gone.

Yeah I'm not over that still, I hated Taco, in fact I thought he was best at being a 3-4 DE, then we proceed to draft him and put him in as a RE. Talk about out of position Watt always made more sense.

I was never a Marinelli fan. Wanted him fired since the 2014 playoff disaster at GB.

We are not better with Nolan as DC. We have Edwards and Tomsula to offset the whacked schemes he used in Atlanta.

our DB coaches are an issue. Linguist is truly unknown and Harris was fired after the 2018 disaster at KC. None of them are near KR.

plus Nolan was hired because MM is his big buddy. (Nolan gave MM the OC job at 49ers in 2005.)

I need to see wins.

Only if you have the right players.... and in the NFL. it only matters if you have the right QB.

Was it a shock that Andy Reid now has a SB title? So in 20 years or whatever it is he has spent as a decent coach, he became a SB winner once he got Mahomes? How much of a SB contender were the Steelers as soon as Ben is down? IM not gonna play this game AGAIN..... but just our own great J Johnson in Miami, and George Seifert in Carolina as examples of great coaches who be become pretty avg with an avg QB.

You need coaching to maximize your abilities while exploiting weaknesses of your opponents. This is the difference in having a good team when the relative talent level is level with your opponents. To take that next step though to being Super Bowl caliber, you also need special talent to go along with the coaching (although one wonders about the Barry Switzer days...)

I agree with your stuff.

There is one thing you have to remember..

LUCK IS A HUGE FACTOR

Getting Lamb was total luck.

No skill, no stealthy scouting.

This changed everything.

So crow about coaching ya ya ya.

But like when the Pats took Brady it was luck he ha done for them. He is good no doubt.

But as they say..

Sometimes it's better to be lucky rather than good.

Enjoy it.

Most of those coaches you mentioned still got to championship games without a QB and in short periods of time.

There is no Luck in not drafting a TJ Watt because your of your scheme. There is no Luck in drafting Chaisson over Lamb because you had your eyes set on a certain player. There is only stupidity and laziness. JG not being here helps.

No prob.

I expect you to defend your thread.

Luck is always a factor.

Refs miss a call..costs the game to one side or the other.

No magic numbers or lengthy analysis will change that.

We lost a SB in 1971 when Mel Renfro was told he touched the ball on a TD to Machey that won them the game.

This was lucky for the Colts..unlucky for us.

Renfro today will tell you he never touched it.

Shrug.

So please do not rewrite history to prove your pet theory.

It's just how it is.

There is no such thing as luck or Karma. You are what you are because of the decisions you make. The quicker you and anyone else could understand that and stop with the prayers the quicker you'll learn how this world is run.

Taco could have been one of the worst picks in the last 10 years.....certainly at the position in the draft.

Does coaching matter? Look at the Cowboys history. Look at what the Cowboys did with the only three coaches that were any good. Parcells took a Quincy Carter team to a 10-6 record. Built the team that was the powerhouse in 2007. Too bad he wasn't there for that. Not saying they would have won the SB. But that's the kind of team Cowboys fans like to have. Look at what all other Cowboys coaches have done. Garbage!

This reply is a shocker....................

Goodness..

Who pissed in your cheerios?

Take it easy, big guy.

Down down..we are all fans.

Just different flavors.

Karma?

"You are what you are because of the decisions you make."

This is practically the very definition of Karma.

And you do not believe in Karma?

:lmao:

You take good players and use them to their strengths.

The old regime took guys they thought would fit their scheme and philosophy. Pretty much trying to fit a round peg into a square hole.

I guess if you take enough drugs, you can convince yourself that we never drafted a good player while Garrett and Marinelli were here and that this makes any kind of sense. Maybe those same drugs will help you forget that McCarthy has a worse record than Garrett since 2012 and also decided to pass on TJ Watt. But hey, what could go wrong?
