Does Dak even think about it?

I doubt he regrets getting the money, but I'm sure he feels a lot of pressure trying to live up to being the highest paid player in the NFL.
Dang, now he's got another thing to panic about. Wow, just wow, he can't handle it on the field, now he has to worry about it in the locker room and the streets... I hope Jerry pays him more so he can sleep at night.

Yeah but that doesn't fit the narrative Dak is the only problem in Dallas that some want to spin.

Poor Jerry would have built a Superbowl powerhouse if it wasn't for Dak's contract... that Jerry signed him too... after messing around for a year when he could have signed him for half of what he got... then did the same with Lamb the next year... Poor Jerry.
We know our GM has a house rule with free agency. But what if he didn't? Would Dak's contract matter then?

How many QBs have won a SB being 15% or more of the cap? One, that would be Patrick Mahomes. I think that list goes to 3 if you count QBs that lost in the SB. It just doesn't seem teams are capable of building a SB winner with the QB being that big of a cap hit. Even if they don't have house rules. Dak is over 18% of our cap.

Jerry's house rule - hang out at the rim.

Does he ever once stop to think about how things could have been different if he didn’t let his greed and ego get in the way. Does he ever think, “you know if I didn’t like Brady and Mahomes” I might actually win a title as opposed to be the laughing stock of the league”. Think he has any regrets about his demands to be the highest paid player in history? Or does he just chuckle to himself every time he looks at his bank account?
How is Dak the laughing stock of the league?

Some of you are so emotionally over-the-top.

He’s rich from
Playing football. I doubt he thinks about stuff like this. This is what poor people think about and losers. Who on earth cares about get the internet thinks lol?

If he did he wouldn’t have re-signed with Dallas 3 times. You don’t sign here thinking you can win a ring.

A fool would take a pay cut like Brady did to play for the Cowboys. What idiot would do that?

It wouldn't matter.

There is no team you can build in modern football able to carry Dak.

There comes a point in every playoffs/season where the QB has to step up and make plays. Dak will fail.
He can't handle the pressure.

I'm like the other chasing4 guys, I'll blame everyone on the team but dak.

I bet he never goes back to Panama.

its the simple minded cult. they can't comprehend complex issues. so they want a single point of failure and then point fingers at it, as if fixing that single point of failure is going to fix EVERYTHING, where reality has proven otherwise.

I am not making Romo to be anything great or not great. not a debate about that. Romo was talented enough to win a championship, yet he failed in Dallas. its a Dallas-GM issue, not a single player issue.

I don't blame Dak, at least not completely. I blame Jerry 100% because Jerry capitulated to Dak's demands. He could have said no and held the line. He did not have to give Dak the new contract, or the no trade clause. Dak's contract is all on Jerry.

What I can blame Dak for is taking $60 million and playing like a $30 million QB. I worry about Dak's attitude for even asking for that much money considering what other QBs were getting.

I will never blame a player for getting every penny they can from an owner. They owe it to themselves and their families. But once they take that money I do expect them to play to the level of their compensation. Dak has never played to the level of his compensation since his rookie contract. Compared to his performance on the field, he is grossly overpaid.
I don't blame Dak for his level of play. he is what he is. based on your statement, if he is a 30M QB, then somebody paying him 60M, doesn't change my expectations of him. he is still that same level of QB. he is what he is. he can't all of a sudden become elite, because the contract is elite. separate the contract from the player. as tough as it is for some, the two are not one and the same....market is separate from player....right now Mahomes is 10th highest player on average. he is the best QB. why?

and contrary to everyone's argument, the contract is not handicapping the cowboys. lets say he was paid 50M. that would have been the low end of the market. are the Dallas cowboys a 10M player away from being a championship team. You judge Dak based on value of the contract feeling, I am not getting my money's worth. therefore he is root of all the problem.

what I do agree with is that its a GM issue. pure and simple.

and don't forget the idiot GM, had ZERO QBs under contract. waited until literally, not figuratively, literally an hour before first game of the season to resign the QB. that's idiocy.

Not sure Dak is the laughing stock of the league. That's a little harsh. He took what was offered and any of us wouldn't hesitate to do the same. If the season goes south where is the point where playing the starters makes no sense? One game at a time but should Dak continue to start if the Cowboys drop to like 1-6 or 1-7? Or just start planning for the future. As much as I never want to root for the Cowboys to lose, this season it may end up being the most advantageous course of action.

When Dak was on a cheap rookie deal, please show me where Jerry and company used the extra cash to upgrade the team with quality free agents.

Now do the same with Romo.
