Does Dak wait until the WR makes a cut to throw?

Dak played very well today. There's no doubt. TONY TOO!

But I noticed when tv coverage showed the QB and WR in the same frame, the WR was already out of his cut by a couple strides before Dak threw it.

So I don;t know how big a deal this really is. And I bet he certainly threw some passes earlier than the WR cut. Just saying what I saw on several passes....all (or mostly) completed.

So big deal? Not? Will it matter more against better teams?

The timing on a throw depends on depth of the route, distance from the sideline, defenders bring cleared out, pressure on QB, and throwing lanes. If you can tell me Dak had a clear throwing lane, all of the defenders were cleared out, there was no pressure on him, and the receiver didn't take a misstep and Dak was still late on the throw....then I'll believe you. But too many things factor in for one of us to be blindly pointing fingers.

Thanks for SOME commentary.

But...I'm not "pointing fingers". I claimed dak's success and am asking if it's even a thing.

Why do you guys have to lie and make up stuff? So odd.

Depends on whether he was the first read or the second, third. Depends on whether he’s free after the cut in which case it makes sense to throw after separation, making it better for both receiver and QB. I’m sure you also saw at least 4-5 passes thrown where the ball was there immediately on the slant….tight coverage demands the anticipated throw. An open receiver against a zone means why rush it….give the receiver a little time to see the ball on its way and make sure he doesn’t stumble.

We overthink way too many things. There is absolutely no reason to throw the ball before the receiver makes his move when it’s clear he has room or when you are looking off another defender or waiting for him to clear. The passing window is much more important and sometimes you have to wait for the window to open….not just the separation from the primary receiver.

What I'm saying is non of us have enough information to answer the question you're asking. We can't tell you if the play was ran perfectly or was there some sort of problem. So non of us can point the finger at what went wrong.

So who lied or made up some odd stuff? Because it wasn't me.

Another trash Dak thread. Get over it. He’s not going anywhere as much as you would like.

Steve, welcome back from your coma.

Yes, Prescott has zero ability to anticipate and throw someone open.

I think Dak prefers to throw to receivers and backs against zone coverage where they can find a soft spot and give him a still target.
To his tight ends, I think he throws after the cut.
I think this is a weakness in that he misses the open receivers and throws into coverage at times. But these receivers have to be open, because they don't fight for the ball well.

Like every QB in the league. He does both. It depends on the play and his reads. The All-22 angles will show you this more clearly if you go frame by frame.
