To start, I want to say that I'm a Dez fan but I have to wonder, does he fit what THIS offense really wants to do?

Hear me out. When the ball had to be thrown 30-40+ times per game matched with Romo's QB style, Dez made all the sense in the world. Signing him to the big deal made a ton of sense. He was destined to compete with Julio Jones for the best receiver in the NFL crown.

Now, the offense has changed with Dak and Zeke. We are similar to the Seahawks from their super bowl years and I almost feel that we would be better with Williams and another receiver like him(Doug Baldwin type) on the other side with Beasley and Witten to move the chains. We are paying Dez a ton to be just a GOOD player in this offense.

I believe that Dez is as talented as just about anybody in the league but this ball control, grind it out offense doesn't utilize him. Is it worth it to pay him for an offense that doesn't use his full potential?

Sure, there may be a game here or there where we bust the glass and he has a huge game or Dak may learn to push the ball down the field more.

I'm sure we won't unload him but Dez was the picture of a 'Romo friendly' player...would it be unfair to reason that moving on from both of them would make a lot of sense(especially for the right compensation)?

Did you watch the playoffs and the final few games?

Dez and Dak took awhile to get on the same page.

It took awhile for Romo and Dez to get on the same page.

Dez had one of his best years in 2014 when we were run first. All of Dez's failures this year can be blamed at the lack of chemistry with Dak. We are seeing that starting to change. Remember, due to injuries and Dak starting as a backup...they didn't get a ton of work together in practice.

I fully expect Dez to return to his dominant ways if he can stay healthy.

I'm a huge Dez fan and I think he fits and is very beneficial to this team.

However, I do sometimes wonder that 3 game stretch without him we completely dominated the competition (Green Bay and cincy). Doesn't mean we are better without him but we did look good without him.

Exactly they were getting there chemistry down

That's on coaching though they did a great job in his absence but you can only mask a lack of talent @ WR for so long. W/o Dez (long term), Zeke is looking @ 9 in the box every play and the front 7 will go all out on Dak similar to Romo bf the running game. His presence is critical (in big games, like the playoffs where he gave it his all to keep us in the game).

Dez has had some injuries, but other OCs find ways to get your #1 looks while we mainly don't; taking what they give us offense (JG) unless you count the telegraphed WR screen or flat passes. We let the good Ds dictate generally where we go with our passing game, and that just reaps of laziness to me tbh on behalf of the coaching staff (how about a little of both) in terms of using your top resource to expand the offense to make it consistent and playoff ready despite D; Prescott's safety blanket should be our best resource @ WR. I have to give them credit for developing Dak as a rook admittedly.

Beasley is a niche player (love what he adds though) that got figured out w/o a #1, and TW/Butler are inconsistent and no real threats to secondaries. Witten came up big as he always does, hope he gives us another great season but has also slowed down considerably for seam route options. This pertains mainly to our lackadaisical start in our playoff games the last three attempts; DET included. If Dez is purposely involved (via gameplanning, not focing into coverage) you would see a more consistent contribution.

Every offense in the league needs a superstar type receiver... If Dallas had twill and a Baldwin type they'd see 8-9 in the box every play. Dez Zeke and Dak make the offense balanced take any of them out and the offense isn't balanced.

Someone will probably point to Dez injury earlier this season as proof I'm wrong. But I'd argue that at the time teams hadn't quite figured out if Dak was for real. And that allowed Dak to take advantage in Dez 4 game absence. Over the course of a 16 game season I don't think the offense would hold up quite as well.

Yes he fits, Dak got a little too cute with the whole "I throw to who's open" gameplan but they got their chemistry down now.

Dez will fit as long as he's okay with the ball being spread around and him not being the focal point every week. His role has changed with Dak at QB and the chemistry between the two did improve as the season went on. He'll never put up the type of numbers he had with Romo because Dak isn't a gunslinger who's going to throw a lot of jump balls to him. Would like to see more slants/crossing routes to Dez and for the Cowboys to add a stretch the field speed receiver to replace Twill such as DJack or Mike Wallace.

Since when did *throwing to the open reciever* become "little too cute". If Romo stuck with that plan we'd probably have a couple more playoff victories.

Seriously what? Dez is a baller and fits every offense. It amazes me people do not understand what he brings to this team.

Yeah I think we can find a place for a pro bowl receiver in this offense.

We didnt throw much in 2014

Everyone understands what he brings as a player on the field but it's the distractions he can bring that's been the issue with him. He's a very emotional player who allows his emotions to get the better of him at times which hurts his game. He's better when he's not jawing/smack talking with defenders, it takes away from his game. He allows certain defenders to get inside his head, causing him to lose his focus.
