The Kid has clearly out played Durand and Sims.. For years it has taken injuries for a young guy to earn playing time... The law firm of Lee, Carter and Holloman...
Highly doubtful to start this soon in his career but I could see him coming in on 2-receiver set 3rd down situations.

I disagree that if you perform well in preseason you should be given the start. Durant and Sims have performed well in the regular season last season. If Holloman continues to make plays in the regular season than he should eventually get the starting job. But as of now he has just earned a spot on this team. Now the next step is to get more playing time.

I think of Holloman how I think of Wilcox. I want them both to start right now, but in reality it's probably best if they don't. They have more upside than the vets ahead of them on the depth chart, but I'd rather go with a vet before throwing in a rookie. Holloman and Wilcox will make a lot of big plays but they'll also probably make some costly mistakes. I'd rather eliminate the mistakes. By next year, Holloman and Wilcox will be starters.

Wouldn't start him over Durant or Sims if they are both on the team. This club will have some tough cuts to make to get down to the 53.

I see him starting by midseason. Kid has looked sharp. But sims and durant are veterans and also could excel in this defense. I'd give it a few weeks in the regular season to get going

Sims could be a player maker in this defense but he needs to stay healthy. Durant looks steady if not unspectacular.

The kid could be starting at some point this season if he spends more time studying with Lee and Carter.

I don't know if Holloman will start anytime this season but I know this is the deepest I have seen the LB core in a long time.

This is all you need to know. The Holloman interception for a TD was a missed assignment. He was supposed to be rushing the quarterback that play.

He's not ready.

But, I have very high hopes for this guy. He's going to be a player for Dallas, and a starter down the road not too far.

As fans, we have a tendency to overemphasize the flashy plays and underestimate those whereby players get into position and fulfill their assignments on a consistent basis. Holloman hasn't quite reached that point yet according to Garrett. I'm confident he's taking that on good advise from Kiffin and Marinelli.

Why is it that we, as fans, always seem to think we know more than those who are in the business of recognizing these things? These guys watch film religiously and make these determinations daily. At some future date, there's little doubt that Holloman will develop the needed expertise in fulfilling his assignments on a regular basis. It looks like we'll be obliged to find a way to stay patient until that comes about.

I'm sure he'll get a good amount of playing time this year. Sims when he wasn't injured was playing really well so I'm thinking he would get the nod before Holloman.
