This is the players/players union fault. They were the ones to give universal power to Godell. The commisioners exempt list, the investigations, the arbitrators, etc are all under the rule of the commisioner. If they don't grow a backbone and stand up for themselves in the next cba, it will be more of the same.

Honestly, someone should sue the guy over this kind of crap. If you have a punishment, administer the punishment. You can't let people's career just hang on some individual's whim.

They absolutely should, but the courts take so long, then they file in favorable courts and these cases end up lasting for years. It's a completely unfair system to the players and their only recourse takes years in court. And of course even when the courts do rule in the players favor, Godell just ignores it, refuses to reinstate them and files an appeal.

This is absolutely something that needs to be addressed at the next cba, but the NFL players are going to have to be willing to go the lockout/strike route to get a just system. The commissioner needs a serious power check.
 
This is a game that's played amongst billionaires. All these things are negotiated above the level where our scrounging reporters get a sniff.

Favors, slights, and years old comments. Jerry knows exactly what's going on with Gregory.

'Sits back and takes it' like when he broke the NFL trust and signed a deal with Pepsi and Nike? Or when he started his own merchandising entity to make the Cowboys the most valuable sports franchise on the planet?
The only thing I can say he 'sat back and took' was the bs over the Miles Austin signing.
 
If he was suspended for a certain amount of time and that certain amount of time is up, can't he just get back in the games? Otherwise what's the point of establishing a predetermined suspension if in the end it will be longer?
 
If I was the players I would just go on strike until Goodell is removed. Period end of story.

Lol that you can't see the difference

Jerry is a used car salesman. Take his money and he will fight you like a cornered rat. When the NFL cones down on some players and rules, he knuckles under and takes it because he wants to save up his bullets for when the NFL tries to take his money. Other owners like Rooney and Mara actually value winning and fight for the team. Go figure

Just looked up the reinstatement policy. To make a long story short, the NFL has 60 days from the time a player applies for reinstatement before they have to issue a decision. There are numerous things that have to be investigated to ensure the player has complied with all requirements on his end. Based on that, the league would have to render a decision by Jan 14 (assuming Smith applied for reinstatement on Nov 17).

He should be all about making money. Look at teams like the Raiders or the Chargers who have no idea where home will be next season because they don't have anyone with the vision to stay ahead of the curve monetarily. The Jaguars are as close as you can get to a brand new club and they have to go to England every year to break even.
As far as caring about the team, we've all seen him go all in with players like Haley, or Hardy, or Gregory. He is what he is, a gambler. But those moves were made to try to put a good team over the top. He has also fought for his suspended players when he could. He used whatever pull he had to help Michael Irvin, Josh Brent, and Pacman Jones.
Some just will never like Jerry. But I can't honestly say that he doesn't want to make the Cowboys a better team.
 
From my understanding the suspension is a certain number of games/weeks. There is no need to be reinstated. That is normally reserved for players that are suspended indefinitely.

It's all good, we have others here at the helm, finally, stripping Jerruh of his in-team influence.

Here is the question, what is the timing for the 1-year suspension?
Also what about the appeal process for the 1-year suspension?
How does the 60 days play into that?
Obviously, my question is if the technicalities will allow Gregory to play in NFC championship game and Superbowl?
 
Who actually cares anymore? I don't. The guy is never going to come in and be anything more than JAG.
