There are a number of folks on here that have been pretty high on Hodge, but with his injury is he in danger of getting cut? I'm really not familiar with his college career, so I haven't personally seen anything one way or the other to get me excited.

Make your case here why Hodge should or shouldn't be cut and then state what you expect to happen.

a tough one...

I think he stays only because of injuries to the other linebackers.

He will need to show someone in that time or else he may be gone when they get healed up.

I'd like for him to stay.

I expect practice squad. Unless there was another team that was just clamoring to draft him, which I somehow doubt, he should make it there easily.

I wouldnt cut him his first year, if the knee flares up again, you might put him on injured reserve and let him come back next year in offseason conditioning, and then see what happens.

When Hodge has gotten on the field, he's impressed. He looked good in OTAs and/or minicamp. And he looked good in training camp, the few drills he participated in. Unlikely he'll be released.

Wade said yesterday he's not liable to IR a guy if he can conceivably help the team during the season at some point (speaking of M. Hamlin). Special teams are getting thin and that's Hodge's specialty. He'll either be on the 53 or IR-ed.

He's such a good STs guy I think they want to keep him, but that knee needs to heal up quickly.

I think it comes down to two things:

1) Do the coaches feel that his potential is high enough to warrant a roster spot.

2) Do the coaches feel more confident with Stewart or Hodge

No question. He will be a ST ace and future nickel and dime linebacker.

How will that be? he hasn't practiced much at all. He's likely too behind at this point to make any sort of impact. Sure, he projects as an ST ace...but all he's aced so far is Trainer's Room 101.

It seems to me that he has the same knee condition that they cut a player for last year. They really liked the guys potential and how he played but everytime he practiced or played hard, his knee would swell up and they'd have to hold him out of practice.

You cut a sixth round pick who will clearly be one of your best ST players without even giving him a chance because of a non-serious knee injury in the offseason?

He won't make it to the PS, someone will snatch him up him for ST before he gets through waivers. It would be foolish to let him walk.

Where did I say cut? IR is more likely since he can't get on the field.

which means he needs surgery and a long recovery period.

I to the R.

That will depend on what the doctors say. When someone says will he make the 53 man roster, thats a question about a healthy players. Not one that cannot play due to season ending injury.

If he is healthy enough to be on the roster, he will be.

he hasn't shown that he's healthy enough to play without pads... how is he going to magically be healthy enough for the roster?

He has already had surgery, he just needed more time for the knee to recover. Trying to play on it just aggravated the swelling.
