Considering who the alternatives are... I think he does have business on this team. However, he has no business STARTING on this team.

but he's not... hopefully this years version is better... thats what camp and experience is for.
If he shows no growth and plays the way he did last year... he does not belong.

I just can't believe the nine lives this cat has......

With Hamilton being suspended, Matt Johnson cut, and bringing in a kid off the cut list.... I just don't see him getting the ax.

Does he deserve to make it??? I don't think so....but who else you gonna count on?
Heath does not make roster on a playoff caliber team. So yes he will make this team.

If he got cut I wouldn't care. But I think it sucks how fans write him off when he was a undrafted rookie free agent who shouldn't have been starting last year in his rookie year. Rookie 1st rounds struggle...but he was suppose to look like he knew what he was doing?

He doesn't deserve the criticism he gets.....well not for his rookie year play.

You've got a point, I guess. Still doesn't change the fact that a NFL defensive 2-deep is well above his ability....
Unless it's Dallas?

He's already made it . The guys that didn't play today probably already had a roster spot secured.

One probably could have read similar remarks concerning Bill Bates when he was just a 'Joe' hustle on the team.

I don't think he can play in this league to be honest. At best he's a special teamer in my eyes. But at the same time......have we seen enough from him to say that?

Heath wasn't ever getting cut this camp.

On this board he's developed into a pretty popular whipping boy. Honestly, for an undrafted rookie free agent getting thrown into the fire, I'm not sure what kind of expectations people had. It's not Heath's fault the team didn't have a better, more prepared safety on the roster at the time.

And the dude definitely shouldn't be cut. He's already a good ST player and he obviously has some potential as a safety in this league. And I absolutely do not care what kind of hate I get for saying that.

The fact that you have to use the words Jeff Heath and 53 in the same paragraph after last year indicate the state of the drunken front office in Dallas. It's a crime that they trout garage out like this.

BS

I don't understand all the hate for this guy. He's an undrafted guy who has a lot of physical upside, who stays healthy, and who was thrown into the fire last year. A good team wouldn't have put a guy like him in that situation last year.

Some "fans" hate every player on this team that is not an all-pro, top of his game, player.
I had him as a bubble guy depending if any one stepped up to replace him. Through injuries and suspensions, he makes the team. I still had him and Hamilton as either one making the team at the last DB.
He was put in the situation last year because they had no other choice. Good team or bad team, means nothing, it was the situation.

I Really like his attitude, he sems to be a throw back type player. Hits the QB, stood and looked over him [Cousins] and when Cousins put his hand out to be helped up, Heath just walked away....I want a player like that, we need them.

Yes he would make it on a playoff team, as they would have time to develop him, if injuries wouldn't force him to be used.

It's not like he got much support from the front 7 either.
