Does Jeff Heath make the final cut?

I Really like his attitude, he sems to be a throw back type player. Hits the QB, stood and looked over him [Cousins] and when Cousins put his hand out to be helped up, Heath just walked away....I want a player like that, we need them.

Agree with everything you said and I absolutely loved that play. Good solid clean hit on the QB, looked down on him and just walked away when he raised his hand for help getting back up. And if I remember correctly Heath picked him off shortly thereafter.

Some people just like to hate.

last year's jeff heath has no business on this team.
we will find out if this year's jeff heath does.....
I'm not to sure...

He will make the cut though imo.

They probably keep 5 Safeties. Are there 5 Safeties better than him? Highly doubtful.

It's not like he got much support from the front 7 either.

Right. Its hard to even really judge many on this defense aside from the front 7. How can I judge linebackers who don't have any defensive linemen in front of them playing at a high level? How can I judge anyone in the secondary who got absolutely no help from their defensive linemen last year?

No need to keep DBs who can't out jump Calvin Johnson.

His dad is a coach.

if we have 5 safeties who play worse than last years jeff heath.....we're in more trouble than i thought.
but i expect him to improve

Dude, I don't think we even have 5 safeties on this team right now.

Am I missing someone? Does Ryan Smith even count? I don't think I heard his name mentioned more than once this offseason.

Some "fans" hate every player on this team that is not an all-pro, top of his game, player.
I had him as a bubble guy depending if any one stepped up to replace him. Through injuries and suspensions, he makes the team. I still had him and Hamilton as either one making the team at the last DB.
He was put in the situation last year because they had no other choice. Good team or bad team, means nothing, it was the situation.

I Really like his attitude, he sems to be a throw back type player. Hits the QB, stood and looked over him [Cousins] and when Cousins put his hand out to be helped up, Heath just walked away....I want a player like that, we need them.

To the haters:

Pick your favorite dominant player at every position from any team, and put them all together on one squad -- a personal 'all-pro" team.
Then add up their contracts, and see how that squares with the salary cap; it won't even be close.

You must have a contingent of low paid players to allow the high rates of pay that your stars will demand, and still fit under the cap.
Getting those guys to play well is what roster mgt is all about, and for now, Heath is one of those guys.

I was responding to my man xwalker who said he believed we were keeping 5 safeties.... (a bit of sarcasm on my part)

my feeling on heath is very simple, agree or disagree. If he plays like he played last year, I don't want to see him on the field.
but... I hope he's gotten better with reps and training.

The sad thing is, Dallas is probably 1 injury away from this guy starting again.

Ryan Smith played against Denver and was in on a lot of plays. I think there is a chance he makes it and Dixon doesn't. I love the way Dixon plays the game, but he should have played in another era. Right now, he is a penalty waiting to happen.

I just can't believe the nine lives this cat has......

With Hamilton being suspended, Matt Johnson cut, and bringing in a kid off the cut list.... I just don't see him getting the ax.

Does he deserve to make it??? I don't think so....but who else you gonna count on?

He is a key Special Teams contributor...that's why.

yea...he's going to make the team.

i'm happy as hell that he will too.

solid undrafted tackler player thrown out to the lions who has contributed and does not seek the hot tub.

his only issues are sometimes taking wrong angles and losing the flight of the ball somewhat in the air.

he's always in position to make the tackle or interception though.

he's an adequate back up to have on your team..stop with your hate.

happy to have a gritty player like jeff.

If Jeff Heath is the worst player on your team you actually have a pretty good team. Solid special teams player who's biggest problem last year seemed to be strength/mass. If there's one thing that the NFL knows how to add to a player its strength and mass, especially from small school guys. Is he ever likely to be an all-pro, nope. Is it possible that he could develop into a competent starter? I think so, he frequently had decent position and just couldn't finish. That being said I also don't see it that we couldn't replace him.

Basically the best way to think about him right now is the cheaper version of Danny McCray.

tough position man. if he doesnt break out in 3 year as a player like Church then you gotta get a new guy in there to try and get better but for now dang hes needing time to get the pro speed and game.thats why hes still here. he is improving or they would bump him.

The person you're missing is Thomas, the CB/S that we picked up from the Pats during the week. He'd let us go basically 5.5 CB/4.5 S.

Right now I'd guess the 10 DBs are Carr, Clairborne, Moore, Patman, mitchel, Thomas, church, wilcox, heath, dixon.
