Does Mike Zimmer have some vitriol towards the Cowboys/Jerry Jones?

You know for passing him on the head coaching position the last 15 years? I can't help but think some of his comments today regarding AP has to do with his strong desire to not let him go to the Cowboys b/c he's pissed he was never offered the job.

I doubt it's Cowboys-specific.
I do bet if they trade its not with an NFC contender though

Peterson is not and never was coming to Dallas. People really need to get over this pipe dream nonsense, this ain't posturing at this point.

At the end of the day Minnesota will be offering Peterson more money than anyone else wants to pay him, and they have the least that any team had to give up (just money, not money and picks) to keep Peterson. It's a no brainer.

You may be right but it will be fun to see how it all unfolds. The Cowboys aren't done looking for a bell cow RB and a trade with another team may happen if the AP/AD drama doesn't pan out. For now, I'm going to keep right on dreaming. I want that carrot!!!

I want AP as much as you do. Im just getting a sense that a lot of this will come down to spite and principle. They dont want to send a message towards their own players and others around the league that if you complain you will get what you want.

I'm with you there but I am going to enjoy watching this closely. Over the next few weeks plenty of ammo will be provided to the media by both sides. If he reports I will be shocked. I'm content with the fact that, if not AP, we ARE still looking for a RB (bell cow type not cow bell type).

A rational fan that doesn't completely dismiss the opposite viewpoint. Quite refreshing. Nice perspective there Sunspot.

What is out there that is worth trading for?

Nothing really.. I'd just use what we have or get Peterson.

Tre Mason? They drafted Gurley. Dumb move IMO when you already have Mason. As a Gamecocks fan, I saw plenty of Mason in college. He's the real deal.

Yeah but who knows when Gurley will even be available to them.

Would be a bad move to trade Mason this year.

We're just better off sticking with what we have imo unless Peterson becomes available.

Mike Zimmer didn't deserve a HC gig after his work here.

Outside of 2003, we had porous defenses under Zimmer. The 2006 defense was his last year and it was a horrendous joke when we couldn't even figure out how to cover a fullback out of the backfield. They turned Mike Karney into Ladanian Tomlinson. And that is despite year-after-year drafting defense in the first round along with all of the FA pickups we made.

He then went to Atlanta and his defense...stunk.

It wasn't until he went to Cincinnati that he started to turn out quality defenses. Although I'm sure it helped that the HC for the Bengals is one of the greatest D-Coordinators in the game over the past 30 years. I'm guessing he was either carried by Marvin Lewis or he learned something from him because the Minnesota defense was no great shakes either.

Obviously, he should get more time with Minnesota, but the point stands...he did nothing to deserve a HC job here.

Zip.

Nadda.

The more I think about it, I really think the Vikings are really just going to sit on AP. If they trade him to the Cowboys it may feel like they "lost" this battle.

This all might come down to a principle act. If they give in to APs demands this creates a domino effect. Displaying that if you whine and pout enough that you get what you want.

Just my .02 cents

Orlando Scandrick says hello! ;)

It was actually pretty funny to hear him say that stuff.

He's also quite likely completely full of it.

If AP sticks to his stance and refuses to play there the GM and Owner are not going to sit around holding onto AP, and getting nothing in return, out of spite just because their HC went out and said so.

Well, I'm pretty sure Vikings fans do not want to see the reverse of a Hershel Walker trade, where we get the star RB and go on to win SBs, so it may be him reflecting how the fan base feels.

Bingo!

Zimm would rather pay adrian to sit than turn him over to Jerry.

Unless he got a ridiculous offer.

You're reading between imaginary lines.
AP is a top talent. I wouldn't have let him go either.

There was a lot of GROZ here.

Do we have any research on how long people are still mad about being fired?

I knew someone who was still HOT thirty years later.

Adrian Peterson has already reported to camp and made the following statement.

“I’m returning because I want to. I’m a part of this football team and I owe it to the guys I play with and to our coaches."

And some of you will continue to believe AP is going to be a Cowboy. Something I wrote off a long time ago.
