Does Miles Austin still play for this team?

Two games in a row, complete non-factor. I get that he's coming off (yet another) injury, but I think his non-production has more to do with Tony really trusting guys like T. Will and Cole Beasley than it does Miles being banged up.

Even if 100%, is Miles the number 2 guy anymore? Or has the baton been passed?

He is clearly not physically right. We get him healthy and we are going to destroy people given how Williams and Beasley are developing

I do think that Miles is likely done here after this year

As far as I am concerned, the "baton" was passed when Williams was drafted.

The idea was to line up Austin in the slot to create mismatches based on his size and strength. Williams would be used to stretch the field and Dez would be Dez. I didn't think it would happen so quickly but with the injury, and Williams' development, Austin is basically relegated to a backup role but he will have his opportunities down the road.

I agree with you fully. I love the fact that we have someone like a Williams to step in and show he can do the job and rushing miles back is not needed. When healthy Miles can add to what we already have because when healthy Miles is still a very dangerous player. As for next year I would say there is a good chance he will not be back but that is for next off season, right now it is all about getting the most out of this season

Yeah, Miles has always looked better as a slot guy. But now with Beasley coming onto the scene, I think it's at least questionable whether Miles is even the best slot receiver on the team anymore.

I think he'll have an occasional big play or big game here or there, but I think the last two weeks are an indication of things to come. And then he'll be gone. Too bad too, I always liked the guy, but I really like what I see from Williams and Beasley.

We'd be fortunate to get a #5 draft pick for Austin right now. And with Jerry handling the phones...a #7 would be best-scenario.

He is not healthy but playing.

Babe said it in the pregame yesterday he was going to be used sparingly in an emergency situation because he is not healthy.

Can we just trade him for some cap money? Straight up.

At this point, Austin is the offenses insurance policy. There is no need to trade him, not sure he has much value anyways. TWill has made Miles obsolete, along with the emergence of the Beaseeee.

He will continue to trot out there for a few plays while getting healthy and remain in the stable in case someone gets injured. As for next season, doubtful he remains a Cowboy.

I always kind of felt that Austin is an athlete that happens to play WR. His best work usually comes off simple comeback routes or just beating someone off the line with quickness. I find him less effective as he gets downfield because he has so little ball skill (I can think of 2-3 INTs in the last couple of years where it was a one-on-one matchup that he didn't even go for the jump ball).

Now that we have some guys who are WRs and actually present WR skills, he is becoming less important. It would still be nice to find some ways to get the ball in his hands, especially in blitz situations, because he is tough to tackle and gets you YAC as well as anyone not named Harris or Dez, but as an every down player just don't know that I see the point anymore.

Miles was done after this season once they made the Williams pick during the draft. Williams would have had to been a monumental failure for them to even consider bringing Miles back.

What we're now seeing from Miles is what we've seen the past 2 seasons. A guy either not physically able or afraid to explode. He'll probably give us a good 2-3 week run later in the season and then go back into hibernation. It's a shame - his hamstrings have wrecked his career.

I agree that he doesn't look right and JG should sit him until he is 100%, Miles on the field right now isn't helping the team, in fact it's hurting the team because when he on the field, Williams or Beasley isn't.
