Does Miles Austin still play for this team?

Two games in a row, complete non-factor. I get that he's coming off (yet another) injury, but I think his non-production has more to do with Tony really trusting guys like T. Will and Cole Beasley than it does Miles being banged up.

Even if 100%, is Miles the number 2 guy anymore? Or has the baton been passed?

Yes, he plays for this team.

Next brainbuster, please..

Miles was done after this season once they made the Williams pick during the draft. Williams would have had to been a monumental failure for them to even consider bringing Miles back.

What we're now seeing from Miles is what we've seen the past 2 seasons. A guy either not physically able or afraid to explode. He'll probably give us a good 2-3 week run later in the season and then go back into hibernation. It's a shame - his hamstrings have wrecked his career.

Doubt that very much that Williams means no more Miles. A healthy Miles playing at a high level would be a bargain for his 2014 salary (5.5 mill). There is virtually no difference between the cap hit to keep him vs. cut him.

It's probably a little of both. We know Miles isn't 100% yet. But we are seeing the torch being passed the more Austin is hurt.

He is not healthy but playing.

Babe said it in the pregame yesterday he was going to be used sparingly in an emergency situation because he is not healthy.

I don't understand that, Why play him instead of Dwayne Harris. He, unhealthy, is not better than Dwayne.

#2? he is 3 at best

He's not even a No. 3 if he's injured.
I wish him luck and a good retirement because this guy cannot stay healthy. The best receiver in the world is use less to his team if he is injured all the time.

The only thing Miles Austin has done recently is to kill the cap. First we have to deal with cap penalties ($15M) becuase of his contract and now his high salaries/low production.

I'd trade him to the Colts for whatever I could get just to be gone with his salary this year. I'd rather have Anthony Armstrong or Darryl Green's son who was in camp with us.

The problem is, I don't think Miles really does the things that Reggie Wayne can do, so the Colts may not even be interested in a banged up Miles.

Coach Jason Garrett "intimated" Monday the Cowboys may "shut down" Miles Austin for awhile to allow his lingering hamstring problems to subside.

As the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Clarence Hill notes, this is much easier to do with Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley playing so well. Williams has been nothing short of sensational after a slow rookie-year start, and is clearly a superior option to declining, injury-ravaged Austin. Beasley is an efficient, Welkerian slot receiver. Dez Bryant and Jason Witten are going strong.

The way I see it, TWill, Austin & Beasley should be #2, 3 & 4, respectively. I don't think we'd get much for trading Austin at this point -- might as well hold on to him and use him to stretch the field when healthy.

Austin has already been "shut down" coach. For long stretches at a time. When did the storied Cowboys ever become a long-term rehab unit? Focus too much on damaged goods and you will lose sight of the big picture.

At this point, Austin is the offenses insurance policy. There is no need to trade him, not sure he has much value anyways. TWill has made Miles obsolete, along with the emergence of the Beaseeee.

He will continue to trot out there for a few plays while getting healthy and remain in the stable in case someone gets injured. As for next season, doubtful he remains a Cowboy.

Austin certainly shouldn't be playing 37 snaps and taking many of those away from The Beasness

I think that this will be the deciding factor, whether it makes better financial sense to keep him or not.

The one thing that I do like about what the team is doing now is churning the roster constantly looking for better players. You go down, or out you better watch your *** because the next guy wants your job and can do it. Not everyone on this wagon is going to be on it when we get where we are going.

I don't see how it would hurt to at least try to trade him.

For those who want to trade him, how are we going to absorb his cap hit this year? We don't have the money to. Next year, it is meaningless to get rid of him because his cap hit to keep him is almost the same as cutting him. You look at what can he do for you. A healthy Miles is a solid #2 on this team. He has experience that none of the other guys have. I swear fans are so fickle if they had it their way, we would have a team filled with Unrestricted FA's and 0 cap due to all of the cutting and signing. I swear if it was up to fans, every player on this team would be cut by now.
