Does past use concern you, a Dallas fan?

Yes it does.

But I am reminded of players like M. Step and W. Sapp.

And Charles Haley, who I know for a fact smoked marijuana when he played for Dallas.

It depends. In moderation it could be a great stress reliever for some of these players. People deal with stress differently, if it helps them to smoke a joint once a week to unwind from the rigors of their profession then I don't have a problem with that. I'd much rather have them smoke in the safety of their own home then out having drinks at bars/clubs, and potentially getting into fights/drinking and driving.

Of course anything can be a problem. If it reaches a point where it effects their productivity and physical conditioning then I would absolutely have a problem with and so should they. Although that's a touchy subject because if it wasn't marijuana it would more than likely be something else.

This is all assuming they're smart enough not to "ride dirty" with large amounts of the drug either. I'm sure they could get a friend to bring them a small personal stash to their home for them, in which case I'd think it would be fine. I'm not opposed to players smoking marijuana, i'm opposed to any that use it as a crutch because it reflects deeper and more personal issues that they can't address.

Pretty much how I feel. My best friend went to A&M on a full scholarship and graduated in 4yrs at the TOP of his class. He was a super-stoner. If an athlete can smoke a little weed without it affecting his life, then I say fine. Some people can smoke weed and still take care of their ****.

In truth yes it does concern me. Mainly because those who do use the drug can't seem to grasp the reality that because it is illegal they are risking their careers and affecting the team. I think it is safer than alcohol, but illegal is illegal. There is a reason they call it dope. It describes the people who think they need it. They can't grow up.

Pretty much exactly where I am at as well.

I don't care for it, I don't do it. However, I don't think people who do use it are any worse than people who drink.

But, like you said illegal is illegal.

We all know its going to be legalized sooner or later. But since it is illegal, you do it when youre 14-20 then take a break for a while. Get back to it in your mid 30's, get your ear pierced and date an Asian chick

An admission of past use doesn't bother me, nor does one failed random drug test. Multiple failed drug tests, or failing at the combine definitely would bother me though.
Well said.

I'd bet that like 1/3 of every draft class has at least tried it and wouldn't be surprised if the number is much higher.

Calif. is close to legallizing 1 ounce or less for personal use, whatever that means.
So maybe one day the cowboys, when in calif., can actually injest . . . naw, nevermind.

It doesn't matter if it's legal in Cali or any other state as long as it's still banned by the NFL.

This is exactly how I feel about it. You can parade out a list of supposed medically-supported reasons that say it has no long term effects and all of that, but ultimately illegal is illegal is illegal.
