If we don't get to the playoffs on offense alone, then something is seriously wrong with this team. This team is absolutely stacked on offense. We got the O-line. we got receivers. we got Murray, we got Witten... 3 of the last 4 1st rounders were spent on offense, specifically the o-line, and we also grabbed Williams and Escobar last year. Defense is not an excuse not to make the play-offs. You invest that much on one side of the ball and they better show up.

So basically Romo either balls out or we are sub 8-8..

I'll take a wait-and-see position but I'm not encouraged that they did enough positive things in the draft to give them an edge in the division. Other than Martin, there are too many question marks about the value of the 2nd and middle round picks.

I think Bishop and Gardner will help but to what extent? I'm hopeful but not highly encouraged by the trade-ups (panic -mode) and lack of focus exhibited in the war room. McClay better be the difference.

Still looks like a 8-8/9-7 at best football team on paper, only saving grace is nobody in the division looks that much better

Not really, no. I like the picks, but it's going to take a lot more than that to fix this team, IMO.

The draft did exactly what we needed, helped to make this team better. Last year with the 3rd worse defense in NFL history we were able to go 8-8. With 20 different linemen playing. Majority of those being street free agents, not first priority guys from Marinelli. We got all of our bench back, plus some starters as well as the guys we wanted in the draft and FA. I firmly believe we are making the playoffs. 10-6 or 11-5.

Agreed. Not all that bothered by who they all drafted. The Giants in particular.

Opinion is the same. If relying on rookies and a bunch of players with injury concerns is the plan then it's not much of one, I see 7-9 or 8-8 again.

I heard one guy on some sports show say the Cowboys defense doesn't scare anyone. Truth.

Mr. Alpha fan..

I've been a fan for 45 years and season ticket holder for the same time in the Cotton Bowl

and Texas Stadium and now ATT Stadium.

I think I know what I'm commenting on.

Seen Meredith, Staubach,Ailman and now Romo.

You on the other hand contribute here.

I help pay these players salaries each and every year.

And you?

Lmao hahaha okay pops. I bow down to the oh so wise one.
Calls me an alpha male then proceeds with this golden nugget. Lol.
Carry on. I'm done.

I think it all really depends on how much the starters and players from last year progress going into this year, this being their second year in this scheme. The rookies should contribute rotating on the line and a good year from Lawrence I think is in the realm of about 8 sacks. Depth really killed us last year, so let's see how the additions this off-season help this year with respect to that. Also, how much Garrett grew as a coach and with his in game decision making. If we could get a return on either of these we should be very competitive.

That's why Jones is doing this with Garrett.
Jones has had the mercenary coaches like Philips and Parcells.
They were not Cowboy built like Garrett is.
Becuz of this..I'm very patient with what is happening.

Of course. That's what Jerry was hoping for. Hiring a former player and a fan favorite would buy him grace with quite a few fans. Garrett had a great comeback when filling in as a backup on Thanksgiving 20 years ago. Blind fans will compare him to a younger Landry, give him the benefit of the doubt and 2nd, 3rd, 4th chances.

But in the end Garrett is just like Switzer, Gailey, Campo and Wade - just the latest in over his head puppet that with little control but since it's likely his only, or last, chance to be an NFL "HC" he'll just stand on the sideline and enjoy the ride while Jerry pulls the strings. Jerry doesn't want a coach with power who is the face of the franchise, ala a Jimmy Johnson or Bill Parcells. Jerry wants an unassuming controllable coordinator-type with no real authority or power who won't steal any of his limelight. Well, Jerry has had it his way for most of the last 18 years and all we have to show for it is one measly wildcard win.

Have to hand it to him though. This time he hired a former player so he has bought himself more time.

Before the draft, Vegas had us at 40/1 for winning it all.

After the draft, 40/1

Now, some teams increased their odds, while others decreased their odds.

For example, the Iggles went from 20/1 before, to 22/1 after.

My point, I'm not sure. All I know is that it MAKES ME SICK THAT THE IGGLES HAVE A WAY BETTER CHANCE WITH A FREAKIN 2nd YEAR HC! Uuuuuuuuuuggggggggghhhhhhh
