Does Tyson Thompson have any moves?

Seriously, we know he's got the speed, but I haven't once seen him juke or move side to side at all. It's just full speed ahead. The Boys need to put someone back there that can at least make some people miss. 3 games left in the season, it's now time to put the studs back there and let them take care of business. I'd love to see T-New bring a few back myself.

Very little juke in Thompson. He did get the ball out to the 30 about every return. That is good field position. He got that by just hitting the wedge and going full speed. I really didn't see much room to wiggle after that.

I would hate to see Newman on kick off returns. There is more chance of injury on KO returns than punt returns in my opinion. Parcells likes the stockier guys on kick off returns and the lankier guys on punt returns.

I agree, it is a risk to put your stud DB in those situations, but Deion escaped w/o injury for the most part and there are quite a few teams that use starting offensive/defensive players late in the season, just to bring more to the table. While TT gets the job done, thankfully he hasn't fumbled, it would be nice to feel some sort of anticipation for a big return w/ a stud back there.

we haven't seen enough of TT to determine if he has any moves. on KR's it seems he follows certain play everytime up the middle. The guy prolly doesn't have enough freedom from the coaches to improvise on the field.

TT doesn't have a lot of moves but he does have a little wiggle. But I like the way he slams the ball up into the pile and always gets good field position. One of these days he'll bust through and the later in the season it gets the bigger it'll be when he finally does.

Thompson was remarkably consistent on Sunday, as he has been most of this year. He had five runbacks for 130 yards, an average of 26, but his long was 28. 27, 26, 28, 27, 22. I'll take 25 yards a pop if that's coming consistently.

For this season, at least.

Where he runs is a product of the blocking scheme, remember, and it can't be too complicated. This ST unit would not have been together a very long time, esp. considering the returner is a rookie.

If we retain all or most of the players on this unit, we should probably expect 2 or 3 big returns next year. For the remainder of 2005, I expect we'll try mixing in a little something, try to break one or two off in crucial situations, but the fact that we usually go vanilla on ST as well means the opposition has no film to study. "Okay, guys, they're going to form a wedge up the middle, and Thompson is gonna run straight into it."

Surprises ain't surprising if they keep coming.

He could have had at least two or three td's this year if he could have juked a kicker. He seems to just hit the wedge and if players are already there so be it.

Dante Hall averaged 26.8 yds per KO return last week. TT averaged 26. Wasn't pretty but typical BP conservative play. I guess thats one way to avoid the turnover and minimize the holding penalties on kickoffs.

You guys will complain about anything. TT has been pretty good on KO returns. I know he hasn't broken a long one yet, but he will. He's very consistent and runs hard and straight ahead. I've seen too many guys run sideline to sideline on KO returns, not at full speed and trying to juke and jive and end up at the 15 yard line. His style is the best way to return KO's and I'm sure the coaches want him to do this. If they could just give him some more holes to run through.

I love the way he returns kicks...looks like k-mart years back, get going straight ahead as fast as you can. Only a matter of time until he breaks one, until then, everyone be happy starting at the 30 EVERY kickoff.

dante hall is a good one. thats why he is averaging .3 per return more than tyson.he's 4th in the nfc in retruns. give thet guy a break

Last couple of years, Dante Hall has been the gold standard of kick returners. But in the free agency era, KC had done a remarkable job of creating and maintaining a kickiff return unit that played together two or three years. But of late the Chiefs have 'returned' to a more pedestrian style, albeit with a great deal of license for Mr Hall.

Kickoff returning doesn't really lend itself to moves. Kickoff returners are generally all burners. Punt returners require juking skills.
