Does Ware Plus Carpenter

ware has physical tools that only about 7-8 players in the league have.i dont see how he cant be better than lt.

hopefully this is the dr.j-jordan thing.

people always think the old greats will never be passed.SHOW EM DW!

He's only a second year player...he has the potential to be great but LT was the centerpiece of some of the most dominant defenses to ever play the game, plus he has 2 rings to his credit.

Lavar Arrington was dubbed as the next LT coming out of college, and he has freakish athletic ability. There is alot to say about coaching and using the player so that they can exploit that ability to the fullest.

Don't forget that the Giants had a monster of a nose tackle in Jim Burt and Leonard Marshall was also All Pro on that defense. Then you have 3 LBs that are all Pro (Taylor, Banks, Carson), 2 of which are Hall of Famers.

If Canty, Spears, and most importantly Johnson raise their game...your front 7 has the potential of being great IMO. But the Giants had probably the best 3-4 defense to play the game, ever.

There's something seriously wrong when the Commanders fan has more post than me!

no offense to that former bum Commander but lavar was never the athlete ware is.just my opinion.

arrington has always looked slow to me.ware is the farthest thing from a slow lb.lavar is just a strong slow lb.always has been.

and yes ware is a second year player....i didnt say he would be lt this year. I know he wont be but i do think he can lead the league in sacks.

*pictures him actually getting around chris samuels this year*

I think the signing of Ayodele is going to help Ware. We exploited your ILBs last year particularly in the second game. I think thats going to be alot more difficult this year, particularly with Carpenter playing the other OLB.

this is off topic but i want to ask you something.do u think santana will own newman the way he did aaron glenn and he can probrably do anthony henry?

As stated previously, we're way to early in the game to tell.

However, you can see the Parcells image coming much more closely into focus as time goes by. It's only natural to want to assemble a team in the same mold as past teams you've had success with. We all do this in every-day life.

But you can definitely see similarities in the types of players Parcells is fielding. In addition to striving for Ware and Carpenter to morph into Taylor and Banks, on the opposite side of the ball, you've got the big, veteran QB (a la Simms), and the big, punshing TE being drafted in RD 2 potentially morphing into Bavaro. And how many times have you heard Witten compared to Ben Coates?

Something tells me that Parcells had OJ Anderson in the back of his mind with all this talk about trading Julius for a chance to draft Maroney or White.

Oh well, doesn't Julius remind Parcells just a little bit of Speedy Morris?

We all look to re-create success in the past by assembling the same type of people we were surrounded with the last time around. Sometimes it works. All to frequently, however, time tends to rob us of our opportunity to relive the glory days.

I sincerely hope that Parcells gets a taste from that cup one more time - with the same type of soldiers on the field of battle basking in the afterglow.

I think it depends on how Zimmer plans to use Newman against us. Last year it seemed like Newman was assigned to one side of the field rather then directly against Moss. I don't recall any big catches by Moss against Newman.

I have a world of respect for Newman and think he could limit Moss, simply because I believe most teams don't want to throw at Newman. He's about as fast as Moss with great coverage skills.

If Zimmer does this, I think the question then becomes more along the lines of whether or not Henry and Glenn can cover Lloyd and Randel El effectively, and whether your LBs and Roy Williams can take out Cooley.

Damn bad memories...Morris and Dave Meggett were huge pests that always seemed to get the crucial first downs! Anderson and Maurice Carthon were the punishers that pounded defenses into submission and Morris/Meggett were the nuisances that LBs couldn't cover on 3rd and 5, 3rd and 4 etc.

Equal Taylor and Banks from the old Giants.
Something to think about.

little too early to be thinking about that...Ware was good as a rookie but is nowhere near the dominant, offense wrecking beast Taylor was (yet)...Carpenter is NOWHERE close to Carl Banks...not even in the same area code

David

Lawrence Taylor was the #2 pick overall pick in the 1981 draft and Carl Banks was #3 overall in 1984. That's outrageous pedigree and two grand slam home runs.

We'd be lucky to have two successful players, let alone anyone close to that tandem.

I'm not ready to compare Ware and Carpenter as the next great LB tandem I think there is potential there for them to be very successful. Heck who knows 10 years from now people might be comparing their young LB to Ware and Carpenter or they could end up being forgotten names in the NFL there is no way of telling right now. Let them get some games under their belts together before making any comparisons.

Pepper Johnson was the 4th LB for the Giants I think, he was no slouch either. I mistakenly said Al Johnson rather then Jason Ferguson

Don't sell him short. He was a heck of a slouch.

OMG!!! Step away from the cool aid.

You sound like a homer Skins fan right now.

I can't argue with that, but after reading some of your posts this past weekend maybe you should take at least a small sip of Kool Aid because your starting to sound an Eagles fan.
