I think it's a matter of viewpoint. Say if you knew for sure a loss would get us a player in the draft that would bring about many wins over the next 10 years. Now, we never know that for sure at the time, but that is the view of those of us who are ok with a loss in what amounts to a preseason game. A short term loss for a long term gain. It's a decision people make in business, investments and every area of life. It does not mean the person doesn't care about the Cowboys or isn't a true fan - in fact it's the opposite - wanting the team to be better next year and beyond in meaningful games.

I see the other side too - support the team in the moment regardless because who knows anyway what the future will bring.

I fall on the side that I'd rather get a higher pick after next week, but when the game is on I naturally find myself wanting to see the guys with the star on the helmet do well.

Why want a higher pick. You could end up with Claiborne or a JaMarcus Russell. Sorry but their are players all through out a draft that can lead to wins for the future. Tennessee drafted number 2 overall last year and where did the end up? Cleveland, Detroit, Oakland etc. all draft in the top 10 every year and where are those teams again this season?

Sorry but I take the win over Washington and let the draft fall where it may. You want to end up with Clowney or Watt? One drafted number 1 the other outside top 10.......which would you rather have.

This team will be in contention for mere fact that we should be healthy next season and the east is garbage. It wasn't be because we draft top 5 instead of top 10
