"The Houston Chronicle reports that Texans RB Domanick Davis, who has been sidelined for all but two days of training camp with a bruised knee, could be in danger of getting cut. Head coach Gary Kubiak feels that he cannot gauge how important Davis is to his team if he can't even practice. "I'm very concerned," Kubiak said. "There's not much we can do about it, but I'm very concerned about that situation. It'll be a tough decision for the final 53. We'll make the decision based on what's best for Domanick and the team." Kubiak also announced that if the season started today, rookie Wali Lundy would start at running back, not Davis or Vernand Morency. Furthermore, Davis is not a candidate for the Physically Unable to Perform list since he passed the Texans' physical at the start of training camp. Kubiak plans on meeting with Davis, his agent and the Texans' doctors soon."

OK, so the Cowboys aren't gonna pick him up or anything if it happens, but a team like the 49ers, Vikings, or Jets should be all over this if it actually happened.. I think that Davis is a great back, proven by what he has been able to do with that crap Houston offensive line.. imagine if he was surrounded by good players.. I highly doubt the Texans would be dumb enough to let him go..

If he's not good enough to make their roster, he's certainly not good enough to make ours.

Repeat after me. Just because you've heard of someone and they used to be good doesn't mean the Cowboys should sign them.

damaged goods...no thanks.

and I still like the Williams over Bush pick. :)

That Lundy guy has been decent so far. I think they can do enough to manufacture a running game w/o Davis.

it's not about whether he is good enough or not, it is whether he is gonna play sometime soon.. and like i said, the Cowboys wouldn't pick him up, but there are a lot of teams that would snatch him in a second.. he is a very good back..

Don't be so hard on 'em, even Jerry hasn't learned this yet.

No, he isn't. I'd say he's solid when healthy, but he's not "very good".

I don't really think there's any question that Davis is good enough. I agree with others that it's a question of when can he play. I can not see Houston cutting him but hey, were talking about Houston here so yeah, anything is possible.

One thing is for sure thou, he wouldn't be out of work long.

first off, i never said the Cowboys should pick him up.. i said that other teams would be crazy not to..

secondly, used to be good?

he has only been in the league for 3 years, and he has averaged 4.1 yards a carry, over 1000 yards, and almost 10 total TDs a year on an absolutely horrible team with no offensive line.. he has a bruised knee.. i wouldn't call him "used to be good" yet..

http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/395946 check him out..

EDIT: forgot to mention over 50 receptions a year..

Solid player -- albeit injury prone -- with a change-up style to the guys we have. Averaging 1,000 yards per year in three-year career.

But I don't see where he'd fit in here. Barber is way too valuable as a backup to replace. Just look at how he's been running this preseason. He's picked up right where he left off last year in terms of picking up key first downs on third and fourth downs.

And I can't imagine a guy signed in early September unseating our starting running back.

Would I like to stash him away as a third option? Sure. He'd make great depth. But that doesn't seem all that reasonable.

Please.....he is far from a has been. The man can play ball strait up, I mean he is getting 1000 yard seasons behind the worst line in the NFL. Imagine what he will do behind a ok line. I would drop TT in a hearbeat for him and I guarentee that he would be the starter by the end of the year. He is a full time running back you wouldn't need a committee. I would snatch him the second he was cut. However with that said he wouldn't make it past the Jets in the waiver wire.

1) I doubt anyone would pick him up from the waiver wire. He has a $20M contract.

2) Roster considerations probably just mean they'll stick him on the IR.

He's so good that no one will trade for him yet he'd be starting over JJ and Barber for us?
